From what you are describing I would go along with what most are saying and go with the B2650. The operator platform is alot more comfortable with walk thru deck and tilt steering wheel as Triple R said. I love the mmm also and it mows golf course quality with no lines or streaks. And as eipo says you can pin it up to do other tasks or you can put in on or off in 2-3 minutes. I bought mine with turf tires due to the fact alot of my use was mowing also, but have never had any traction problems doing extensive loader and box blade work tilling and regrading over 2 acres of ground out back. I did not load the tires either to keep weight down in the spring mowing season. When doing heavy loader work I use the correct size ballast and have no trouble at all. I have over 400 hrs on mine in a little over a year and it has performed flawlessly.
This is all good stuff!!! Addresses some of my concerns with this type of work and turf tires but I think you've persuaded me to go that route. I don't think I'll regret not having the more aggressive tread, but I could always add a set if my workload changes for this machine.

I appreciate the first hand account of the MMM. I was skeptical. But it sounds like a quality cut with less fiddling than I thought.

If it's in the budget, a decent zero turn mower would run circles around a tractor. If I was mowing 3 acres, I'd want to be done with it as quick as possible.
Nowhere near in the budget at the moment, but I grew up on Dixie Choppers, so trust me, I know the want factor. I could not justify spending that kind of coin on just a mower since construction and maintenance will present so many tractor opportunities. I would ultimately prefer to have the right ZT for pure mowing, but we'll get there.

In the meantime, my dad is about a mile down the road from my property and he has since passed the torch to a lawn company so his 60" chopper is sitting outback unused. He has offered to loan it to me in the interim if necessary.

I have a BX, and been looking at a B2601.

I really think for "Joe Homeowner" tasks, the B will do most of what you want.

Will it do it all? Probably not.

But with that said, will an L2501 do a WHOLE lot more? Probably not.

Also, there will be more times the extra size, weight, etc. of the L will be more of a hinderance than a benefit.

I'm looking to buy an adjacent woodlot of 2 acres to add to the 4 acres of woods and lawn we have. Even the size of the B2650 over the B2601 tips the scale for me. But, we are also wooded and hilly, so too big is a concern as well.

For me, the MMM is a must have, as well as snowblower, so Mid-PTO is a given. We are on the edge of the notorious lake effect snow areas, and also subject to nor'easters that sometimes hammer NYC, Boston, etc. There is no way I could quickly/easily mow with a RFM, since it's not open, flat ground. Sounds like you could use a RFM if you choose that route.

Either way, you're looking at what appear to be two great choices! Like someone said - good problem to have! :D

Best wishes - just my $0.02...:D

Here's what the 2650 with 60" mmm does on grass that's gotten away from me.

Taking about 3-4 inches off each pass. I am running gator blades but you won't get a finished result like this with a rear mount in the same conditions in a single pass. It's also a hair damp.

Sorry it's on a different forum. But it would take me too long to repost all my pics here with my crappy rural provider. I was on that forum before I found out about this one.

But here's 4 pages of pics of my B doing it all for me.

Wow this is awesome. Will have to give it a proper read through over coffee in the morning. Thanks for the Intel!

Beautiful yard eipo!

And thanks demPho. I just like people to see a little B really can do real work. I'm so impressed with them.

That little B can clearly do some work. I'm still hung up on wanting the L. And the quotes just came in and I can save a clean thousand on the L.

Grrrrrrr

The only downside to the standard L series in my opinion is the lack of the option for mid mount or front pto. Aside from that the L2501 is a damn fine machine.
I've just got to get it out of my system. I'll settle on the b2650 and MMM and I'll love it and yall will all have yard envy big time.

Our trees are strategically placed. All the ones you see in the background hide our house. We sit 600' off the road.

I do enjoy cutting grass though. My job can be mentally stressful so doing something mind numbing can be quite welcome by the end of the week.

Wife and I are toying with either turning that front yard into an orchard or plow the grass under and plant wild flowers.

Get the L and then buy a 14' gang reel mower. I almost went the gang reel route. I had to talk myself out of it.

I've come to realize I want one of everything Kubota builds. Unfortunately my bank account doesn't support that. That's why I try to not spend too much time at my dealer. I impulse buy, LOL.

The L 2501 is a really nice tractor also. Especially since it also does not have a DPF.

I am in the same boat as far as trying to pick between these two tractors. I think its hard because of the rebates Kubota is offering on the 2501. I have 5 acres and dont need the MMM but I cant help to think that the resale value would be greater on the 2650 due to some of nicer features and having that mid mount pto for future use. I am leaning towards the 2650 after having demoed the 2501 and I thought it was just too big for my wooded property.
