Front snow blade and rear ballast

I have a L3901 and will use a front snow blade mounted my FEL. Last winter I took off my backhoe to use the front blade. My rear tires are filled and I used rear chains. It seemed to work OK last winter this way but with the weight of the loader and front blade, is it safer to keep the backhoe on to put more weight in the rear?

Put as rear ballast box on it for the winter or a sand spreader.

I usually have my grader blade on the rear. Comes in handy as well as rear ballast. I also have a sander, but only put that on when finished plowing as you don't want to leave salt/sand in the hopper, it hardens or packs and it is hell to get out.

I find I can push snow with my adjustable blade much better without the backhoe or anything else on back.

I noticed the same thing last winter after taking the backhoe off and didn't think about the weight distribution at the time. Maybe I should just get a 3 point ballast box in the back and put a few hundred pounds back there.
