My BX has 27 hours on it and when I am in High range it seems to have a whine to it, also I noticed the hydraulic fluid is foaming when it is running. Is this normal?

whine is normal - it can be made a less whiny with hydraulic oil change($$$) Foaming is bad - air is getting in there? You full on level ground dip stick wise?

As Hokie mentioned, low fluid level can cause foaming.

Actually its a little over the top fill mark.
when you say a little over........give me a fractional number?;) like 1/8" over or like 1" over???? TOO much can cause a problem too.

Just checked, its about 1/4 in over the top line
Might ought to drain out some, lower the level - keep the oil, and if that helps then problem solved. Otherwise you are sucking in air at a suction line somewhere.;)

Is the foaming a "cream" color? Can you take a photo of the foaming oil, like on the dipstick?

It could be water contamination in the hydraulic oil if it sits outside in the rain or has condensation. If you power wash the tractor, that could be a contributing cause. The slight overfill could be from water that somehow got into the HST.

With only 27 hours on it, this might be a warranty issue. I'd recommend calling the dealer and having them look at it under warranty.

The foam is a light brown, it goes away within a minute or two of the tractor being shut off. I overfilled the fluid because a line became loose and I lost some fluid. It's covered up outside and I have not washed it yet. I'm hoping its something simple I can take care of, I hate to haul it an hour to the dealer and let him keep it a few days right as I am in the middle of some projects.
Thanks for your help.

Have you had the back hoe off/on? I don't have a bh, but I believe others have had problems with the connections removing/installing the bh. If the connections are made wrong the hydraulic system can be deadheaded and the relief valve opens. The high flow through the relief valve causes foaming. As I said I don't have a bh so look for some input from someone with a BX25.

I can certainly understand the hauling issue. If it is under warranty, the dealer is supposed to pay hauling both ways. At least my dealer does that. I know the project delay won't be solved by that.

Sometimes Kubota will send a tech out to look at the problem on site.

Anyway, you have nothing to lose to make a call to the dealer and see what's up with dealer assistance. If that fails, a call to Kubota directly will often get things stirring. Kubota doesn't want to get a reputation for poor customer service.

Give this man a Cigar!

All the lines should have been fully inspected prior to your taking delivery.

Give the dealer a call. With only 27 hours on it it's under warranty and should be covered fully unless there's damage outside Kubota's control...

There will always be some froth in any fluid that is being churned up. If it settles right down a minute or two after shut down, it is probably fine.
Is the fluid still clear on the dipstick?

If you are nervous, talk to the dealer by email (so you have a record). But dollars to donuts, you are fine.

The fluid is clear on the dipstick and the foam does go down quickly. I will follow your suggestions and take a little of the fluid out since it is over good deal and email the dealer to be on the safe side.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
