Older G1900-S mower that I picked up a while back. Engine is TOAST (cracked from pure water). I bought it that way. It is a D722 engine.

I have a good D782 from a G2160. I was going to piece together another 722 for a long term project but a friend needs a mower like ASAP.

Can I put the D782 in where the 722 was without too much trouble?

Yeah, i know this is a very old thread, just wondering if it worked out for you? I'm in the same predicament but with a BX1800 and i can get a D782 but can't find a D722 at a reasonable price. Thank you

yeah I put the 782 pan on it, and dropped it into the frame. It fits just fine. Never got around to actually mounting it and making it run, was offered a substantial amount for everything and of course it went to a new owner.

the oil pan is different. Water inlet is different. Flywheel; although it can be used. Governed RPM is lower on the 782 out of the G2160 as well, not a huge issue. I have another 2160 engine out in the shop and never did anything with it. It has been hot. I might ought to do something with it since dad's G1900 is on it's last leg, thanks to starting fluid. 2 bent rods. But it runs, very weak but it does run.

so just some labor to transfer the above parts from the 722 to the 782? All of the motor mount holes were the same dimensions? Any other compatibility issues you can think of?

I have a couple complete 722 engines and am considering buying a kubota zero turn with a bad engine. It has the 782. I think it is a ZD21 model number.

be careful on the flywheels and such as they sometimes contain a balance weight built into them....which may or may not be different for different engines
