Hello All,

I'm trying to replace my bearings to my left deck pulley. I had one heck of a time breaking the top nut loose, got the spindle out but not sure which way to remove the shaft from. I tried taping pretty hard on both ends but nothing.

Standing upright, does the shaft drop out to the bottom? or out the top? The only diagram I have of the deck only shows the deck components without the pulleys.

Thanks in Advance.

You'll probably have to post some close up pictures of it. :D

Really need to know the exact model # of the deck.
On most models that fit that tractor there is ring clips top and bottom of the spindle that hold shaft in.

Wolfman nailed it again :D Just checked out the spindles on the local options. All have an external circle clip on the bottom. Remove blade and washer. Then come to the external circle clip. Remove clip, then tap from bottom :)

I remember the first service I did on mower,I spent couple of hrs and a couple of drinks wondering why that thing wouldn't come out before I found that clip [emoji43].

Guys,

Thanks for your input. My deck model is: RC60-G20 I attached a diagram I found of what I have, I can get a pic of my spindle if needed but this is what I have. After doing some banging on it I discovered that "clip" #220 that OBKubota is talking about. got it out and thought I was home free. All the videos I watched they just knocked the shaft right out! Not this one, This thing is made well!! Thanks Kubota ***9786; after banging a little more (with my 3lb'er) I found this diagram and that they where.. more clips! #090 one of each side!
I have several types of "C" clip extractors but man, I'm guessing one needs a special tool. they are hard to see much less trying to get them off or out.
Anyone seen this or ran into this before??

Thanks

How much for a new spindle? I can understand wanting to save money. But quite a few of them are around $60 to $80. Then it's just a matter of a few bolts, and maybe swapping a pulley.

Sounds like you're getting good advice on the extraction. You mentioned how difficult it was to get the top nut off. Are you sure it isn't reverse - threaded? That is, opposite of lefty - loosie. I recall having a bugger of a time on one of my Kubota decks before realizing the top nut was reverse - threaded.

I showed it just how determined I was. After wrestling with it for what seemed like forever I put an impact wrench on it and stripped the threads. Nobody accused me of being a quick study!

Your parts will not be too expensive. I just replaced the shaft and two bearings on a Landpride 2560. Got the parts from Coleman Implement. Item #50 (spindle shaft) was like $62. Each bearing (#70) was like $11 each. Bolt (#260) was couple of dollars.

I just did 3 on a deck Thursday, I use a medium size snap ring pliers. Easy to remove and replace the retainers with them.

I source the shaft from the dealer, but the bearings I get from a local bearing supply house, and they're considerably cheaper. But I usually buy 10 at a time and get about a $.03 (each) discount.
