Hello all first post, looking at the l3901 or l4701. I noticed on the l4701 there is a handle on the left side of drivers seat near floorboard that has a picture of a tractor cut in half on one side and a full tractor if you flip the lever. I assume this is to switch from 4 wheel to 2 wheel dr. I looked for it on the 3901 but couldn't find it and the salesman was of no help, he was not sure. Is that what the lever is for on the 4701 and is the 3901 capable of switching in and out of 2 and 4 wheel dr?

Tks

If your salesman doesn't know, I would either find a different salesman or a different dealer. I wouldn't buy from someone who has no idea about what they are selling.

I just upgraded to the L3901 and the "Front Wheel Drive Lever" is located just in front of the seat. Pull up to engage the front wheels and push down for off.

I just got the L3301 DT and was looking at the front axle. There is no round "chunk" for the gearbox. How the heck do the gears mesh inside there?

Also ... looks like the driveshaft for 4WD goes thru the middle of the oil pan...ha ha.....pan is built with the channel in it. 2 plugs ...one on each side to drain the old oil. Never saw anything like it.

Runs great and I am really happy with mine (standard trans)

The Diff is inside the tube, and yes the pan is split, if you only drain one side it will hold half of the old oil!
