The scary part, is most of the issue with folks with that sense of "entitlement" is how they were raised. And it isn't just in the younger folks. I had a 58 year old man tell me he was mad at his father. The reason was his wife "needed" a new car and his father wouldn't buy it for him
I couldn't keep my mouth shut on that one I said "now wait a minute. "You and your wife both work. How bout you go buy your own car and leave your dad out of it!!!!"That kind of "Attitude" used to get my kids knocked back to the stone age
Middle son came home from school and informed my wife of his "rights". Basically said he had the right to be a turd and there wasn't anything she could do about it!!!! She calmly said ok, and left it at that. The next day when he got home from school, he had a bed, lamp, 7 changes of clothes, and some educational books. All of his toys, games, ect........ were gone He freaked!!!!! Wife then informed him of her "rights" as a parent, and this was all the state mandated. After about two weeks he finally started getting some of his stuff back. But he had to earn it with chores

Yes sirDarren, I'll bet after that episode he had a whole different outlook.
wife and I should right a book on creative punishments Used to fight with our daughter about leaving all the lights, on all night. Till....... at 2am I realized the breaker box was in our bedroom. One click and all you here is cussing coming from the other end of the apartment But, the kids are 27, 24, and 21. All have a house, the oldest and youngest own theres, and are married. The middle one rents and is probably gonna be engaged soon. All three are self sufficient. All three kids have come up to me and my wife at some point and said "thanks for being such a d##k when I've needed it". This usually happens when one of there friends ends up hitting rock bottom from not being able to take care of themselves.
