I am in need of any info I can get and it seems like there is very little info available on this. I have studied and read every inch of the old post on this forum where another member was able to locate a company that built a power steering kit for this tractor. Well it seems this company no longer exist and I know kubota used to offer a kit but that too is non existent. Now I have located a very similar looking cylinder that is for sale by a yanmar tractor parts dealer but I can't seem to get them to tell me what the stroke of the rod is on their cylinder. Has anyone recently come across a power steering kit for this tractor? Or know of where I could buy at least a cylinder? I can fabricate the rest of the parts needed to install it. Any help would be greatly appreciated to make my old tractor a great tractor.

Any luck in your power steering quest? I'm curious to know what you've found as I'd like to assist in converting my neighbors B9200 to power steering.

one fundamental difference between an B8200 and a B9200 is the B8200 did not come with factory power steering, the B9200 you could get Power steering, so with a D9200 just get the steering box for it. ;)

That was my first thought. Using Messick's as a guide, it looks like the parts would run right at $3,000. Two of the parts are obsolete, but they would be willing to look for them.

$3,000 is too much money for my neighbor. (Trying to help my elderly neighbor who has difficulty steering).

I have a B8200 that I added power steering to in about 1995.

I went to Ebay and found a steering cylinder for a Toro mower. Also got the steering box, steering shaft and the steering wheel, and all hoses.

This was from a guy in Florida who was salvaging mowing equipment.

The steering box was fairly small. I removed the pitman arm and had the dash off. I used a plasma cutter to burn out a spot in the metal plate over the transmission to allow the box to set it. I used a die grinder to make the edges just as I wanted them, them slit some vacuum hose to line the cut with and set the box in there.

I modified the shaft I received by cutting it and then fitting the Kubota shaft to it. That way I could have the Kubota steering wheel with no problems. The entire set up was $225.

This has worked flawlessly.

I have not had any luck with getting this going. I still have the tractor and it's been a good one. I'm tringy to build a shop right now so after I get the shop built I am going to try to revisit this project. These tractors may be small but they needed to have power steering from the factory especially if they have a loader like mine. If I ever get back to working on it again I'll defiantly post back on what I used. When I last checked on that cylinder that I wanted to use the company that sold them never had any in stock and didn't know when they'd get more. I thought about getting a steer cylinder off a case backhoe and see about mounting a vavle to it that the drag link would be attatched to. But just thinking about it is as far as I got

I made a power steering for a B8200 years ago using a power steering assist cylinder from a Massey 92 combine and a chevy power steering pump. it worked real good as I remember but I don't remember all the in's and out's of building it and I don't have any pictures!

I added the power steering kit available at the time through Kubota shortly after I bought my B7200HST new back in the mid 80's. I paid around $900 for it. Sure glad I did since it was discontinued some time later.
