When I bought the L1500 with a Great Bend M10 Loader it had a leaking Controller.
After my 7 month tractor rebuild it now has a stream, I was going to replace it any way,
but now it will be sooner rather than later. This is an area I know little about.

This is the current loader controller the parts diagram is pretty close but not exact;

Loader Control.jpg

I am wondering if either of these would work OK, different GPM and releif valve pressure settings;

Any insight would be appreciated, and if you would recomend a different brand, style, specs etc.
Feel free to comment, as always THANKS ;)

You need to know the flow rate(GPM), and pressure(PSI), of your system. I have not got any experience with the tech service, at Northern, but the guys over at Surpluscenter.com have always been #1 with me. Sometimes they are cheaper, too. :D:D

Searcing the net this is the best I have found..........

Joe, you will be OK with the pump that's on the tractor. Your L275's factory hydraulic pump chimes out 6.2GPM @1950psi which is more than enough to operate any loader. By comparison, anyone who has a L175, L185, L1500, L1501, L225 or L285 have tractors with a pump output of only 3.7 GPM and 1600psi. Loaders on these tractors work awesome! Kubota's factory loader for your tractor was the K90 model, factory lift of 800 lbs. Allied makes a loader for your tractor with correct mounts, model #195. Check their site www.buhler.com, nice stuff, sold and installed lots on your model, work very well and steering does not feel too heavy. Puff up the front tires a little more as Bill noted, and you'll be fine. Make sure that you use and install an open centre joystick or spool valve on your L275. The wrong control valve, closed centre, vs open centre, vs power beyond, can severely retard the operation of the loader.The open centre configuration is fast up, fast down, no foaming of oil and a delight to use, no wait time or lag. Vic

Sooo, I guess neither of these would be the "choice" ?
I need a Control Valve with a lower GPM?
Or is that the MAX these can handle?

:confused::confused::confused:

Yes you need a valve that is a closer match to get good control, to much GPM rating will make it sloppy.

What ever valve you choose -make sure it has a float position. you will need it for a front end loader. I do not think the valves you showed have float.

Not finding much lower than the 8 GPM, being slightly over double the tractors output,
it would not work well based on your response, meaning there would be little control?

May have to look into having the old one rebuilt, but parts are not available
Great Bend went under years ago.

DIYdave, mentioned these folks, Surpluscenter.com

Might give them a phone call and tell them your pump capacity, and requirements and let them tell you what they have. They are very good to work with, and their prices are as good as you can find....or better!

An 8GPM valve is not too bad, you might loose some fine control, but overall you probably wouldn't know the difference.
If fact based on the old valve you might get better control of it. ;)

This is what Conrad at Surplus Center suggested....

2 SPOOL 8 GPM PRINCE MB21GB5C1 DA VALVE W/FLOAT

http://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulics/Hydraulic-Valves/Directional-Control-Valves/2-SPOOL-8-GPM-PRINCE-MB21GB5C1-DA-VALVE-W-FLOAT-9-7862-F.axd

They did have a 5 GPM but W/O Float, Ignorance is Bliss :confused:
But I do not know what the "float" is, or used for :confused:

First dabble in hydraulics ;:)

The "float" is a position in the valve that holds the spool (the piston inside the body of the valve) so the bucket will not be under pressure. Used for leveling material to flow with the existing grade, esp. when back dragging.

Thanks for the explanation, would only one valve have float? The up/down vs the tilt?
