Yes girls and buoys I guess its that time of year again,, went to the range today,, its well cut and clean,, come home and what the pizzz is crawling up my arm,,, a TICK ,, went showered and found 2 more,,,, I hate them more than stink bugs!!!

Must be some truth to that. My daughter, who's a practicing vet, mentioned that they've already had a couple of tick bite cases testing positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted fever.

They are real bad here with the mild winter. Had a few on me last week when I mowed. Dogs are treated with a monthly preventative, so I haven't found any latched on, but they have transfered some riders to us

I use Spectracide Triazicide. Throw it in my Solo backpack, spray the marsh and any standing water and old tires....no bugs or ticks for a month or more. In the yard I try to use milder thigns around the pets...still searching for something that works as good as the harsh Spectracide.
Has anyone tried out one of the newer (at least to me) repellants containing picaridin? Supposed to be better than DEET at repelling ticks and chiggers, and as good at repelling mosquitoes. Chiggers make my life miserable when I am working in my garden.

Black Widows & Scorpions:
I know most of you don't have to worry about "score-peens' but do have various biting spiders to deal with. The barn that came with our place was infested with black widows. They were everywhere. I tried loads of sprays and then found CyKick. It kills spiders and scorpions within a foot of my workshop door. I don't care that they get in. I just want them dead when I find them. Since spraying every couple of months (usually after rains) I have not found one living thing in my barn that didn't fly in. If it crawls, it dies.
Toxicity is reportedly low to pets and people. But not to arachnids.

We have carpenter bees out here. Last year they ate the crap out of my foam roof on the barn. I repaired everything but this year I have sprayed the roof areas that were ravaged last year with CyKick and thus far, I have zero carpenter bee issues. CyKick is lethal to them as well. One nibble and they are toast.

I bet it works on everything.
Out here we have millipedes. They barely make it into the building before rolling up into a ball and checking out. So far, anything that walks across it dies.
I soak it into the concrete and it has staying power.

I had the same black widow problem in my shop. They were huge! A few foggers wipped out all of them. But last year we had unbelievable tick problems here in the Deer Valley area, with various theories regarding contributing factors. So far, no problem this year, but have you noticed any impact on ticks with the CyKick?

We have very few ticks up here. They do hang on the plants and jump on my dogs... the last was a couple years ago. I think its too arid up here in Creekerville.
I am pretty sure CyKick would kill ticks in a hurry. I only treat the entry doors of my house and barn and that ensures the bugs that try to enter are dead. The website has great information on pests and the best treatment for each pest and how to apply it.
Two summers ago, I had an explosion of termite activity in my front yard. They were attacking agaves, yucca, and even one of my saguaros. I mixed up a little Termidor and spot sprayed each area of tubes I could find. In 30 days, there was no more evidence of termites anywhere in my yard. Same way today. That stuff has a 7 year residual. I may have killed off loads of other bugs too. Loads of lizards and rabbits all over the front yard but, no bugs.
During the remodel demolition on our house, we discovered evidence of termite damage in several areas around the house. In the areas we re-framed, I sprayed the new wood with Termidor before re-insulating. Every area I cut the slab (7 in total) got a bath of Termidor. Then, when we got all done, I dug the perimeter of the house and treated it with Termidor. After pulling off the Saltillo tile on my back patio, we discovered termite treatment drill holes through the concrete. I re-treated these areas before we laid the flagstone. Hopefully, we are set.

Gonna have to look into this CyKick some more.
My wife has found 2 brown recluse (sp?) spiders in my daughters room since we moved in this past December.
Haven't seen much of a problem with ticks at home, but at our hunting property they are BAD. So bad it seems that when you step out of the truck to open the gate you've got 3 or 4 already crawling on you.
We treat around the cabin with diatomaceous earth and pesticides. Helps some, but we still do regular tick checks and frequent updating of bug spray
