L175 hydraulics won't stay up

Hi everyone, first of all excuse some of my ignorance when it comes to tractors. I bought an L175 a couple of months ago and when I am bushhogging the deck starts lowering all the way to the ground even though I have set it about 4" from the ground. My pasture it starting to turn into dirt. Any advice?

Short of finding and fixing the problem, as a temporary measure there is a knob just under the front of the seat. It controls the speed with which the three point drops and if turned all the way should lock it from dropping until you can get it fixed.

That true to a certain extent! If the lift cylinder piston is leaking, then turning in the rate of lowering knob will not have any good results. IF it's the control valve then it's possible it will hold position.

Remove seat and get some help to remove the lift cover and inspect control valve linkage and piston and bore for scoring, broken rings and wear.

There are aftermarket chains that will hold it in position if you want to go that way.
