Injector ports - leak?

Guys,

Here is a picture of my new to me B7100 - the thing was a nasty mess, I think I have found where the mess is coming from....

In this picture - ALL three places you see wet around the ports.....now I have wiped them several times, the engine has not been started in a week, and yet it seem wet after a while....

IS is possible for it to come up ???? I snugged the injector - with the ol a grunt and a half. Scared to do more.......these "nuts" on the bottom - they move???

This thing must have been spilling diesel for a while,

Someone point me in the right direction!

I'm assuming the photo is the top of the injection pump? If it is, those bottom nuts need to be tight, there is a spring and detent ball underneath to keep the injection pump from free flowing the fuel. It gives it it's spurt when the engine spins I can't tell on my tablet what looks wet, (small screen and bad eyes)

You'll have to put a back up wrench on the bottom nuts, loosen the injection lines, and tighten the bottom nuts back up before tightening the injection lines. Typically what will happen, is someone will remove the injection lines from the pump and loosen up the bottoms in the process. But don't tighten them back up before tightening the injection lines.

so loosed each injector - then tighten the bottom nut....then tighten the injector back....mmmmm...... 'spose that bottom will not tighten more?

riddle me this - this is leaking all the time, maybe more so when running - but why is diesel coming out with engine off? Gravity of tank?

Gravity fed makes sense, or back feeding some from the injection lines. if the bottom nuts are tight, and the lines are tight, then you got an issue in there somewhere. If it's coming from the injection lines, then they need to be removed, and both ends need to be inspected. They use a flare to seal similar to a brake line or jic hydraulic fitting,

If it's leaking from around the base, then my guess would be an o'ring or crush washer issue. You'll know which by loosening the bottom nut. Before doing that though, turn the fuel off. If you have to remove it, then be VERY careful. There should be a spring with some sort of detent valve or ball bearing underneath the spring. Some have to be right side up in order to seal.

There is O-ring under the top nut, get new ones P/N 15331-96760,
It leaking because the injection pump lines are under a lot of pressure and yes possibly gravity feed from the tank too.

There may also be a copper washer with the O- ring. I replaced mine i paid around $ 8.00 and the injection repair shop mailed them to me. If you want i hook you up with the shop. I am in SW Michigan and so is the shop

Depending on how many hrs are on the machine, you might want to consider taking the pump to a rebuilder. I just had one done (cat, not kubota) and it only cost me a hundred a cylinder. My eyes are bad enough that I don't take the chance of losing a part, during a rebuild. You should be able to find a local rebuilder to do it for about that price..

I had my injection pump and injectors redone on a 3 cylinder du to bad fuel about 5 years ago $ 800.00 it cost me

Depending on how many hrs are on the machine, you might want to consider taking the pump to a rebuilder. I just had one done (cat, not kubota) and it only cost me a hundred a cylinder. My eyes are bad enough that I don't take the chance of losing a part, during a rebuild. You should be able to find a local rebuilder to do it for about that price..

Had a pressure relief stick open on a deutz 914 6 cylinder. It's located on the fuel return banjo fitting on the injection pump. Pulled it apart in a hurry. Spring stuck. I pulled on the spring and it popped loose. That blasted ball bearing pinged off my sunglasses and dropped underneath the unit. Right into the sugar sand 2 minute job turned into an hour. Ended up running a block down the road to a dollar store and buying a little kids play kit for the beach that had a bucket, some plastic trowels and a sifter The only color they had was pink Spent the next hour on the side of the road sifting sand from underneath the unit till I found that ball bearing I wrap that banjo fitting in a rag and hold it inside a big catch pan now when I take one apart
