i am in the process of buying one, but my issue is my truck will tow max 5200lbs i am looking to buy a 6.5 X 14 aluminum trailer single axle that has brakes, with ramps, the trailer is a Aluma 8214HS,i was looking at a steel 2 axle trailer but the dry weight 1800lbs + tractor and attachments will total my weight near my max, i think,i will not be towing the tractor with all attachments on tractor will be mostly for mowing and bagging, and loader will be taken off when not in use,i have read on line many suggestion but i have not read anyone who has a aluminum trailer , i know aluminum is more then steel but i want a light weight trailer that will tow a lot ,at this time i am not ready to buy a new truck i do not want the payments....

Your BX only comes in at 1400 pounds, even with the mower and bagger - you will still be below a ton. I single axle trailer (with brakes) will be fine.

I once towed my 53 ford - and it weighs a hellva lot more (both rears fully loaded) than my fully loaded bx25D on a double axle aluminum trailer, it was a breeze.

The aluminum cost more - weighs less and tows about the same, keep an eye on what the AXLE and tires are rated for on that single axle ....thats the key and at 5000 lb axle - that ought to be fine.
You be fine with the double axle steel trailer too.

Looking at that aluminum trailer ....thats gonna be about 4K ......after taxes....a double axle steel will be about half that......

but if you are going to spend - get what you want and can afford and feel good about.:)

Thanks for the reply, the axle weight is 5,200 lb. Rubber Torsion Axle
i was going to buy a Gr2120 but for the price difference is was better for me to step up to a BX

trailer specs
Empty Weight + Capacity: 5200 lbs
Empty Trailer Weight: 1137 lbs
15" tires
5 year warrantee

the Kubota dealer told me the Bx weights
Tractor 1345lbs
loader 550lbs
mower deck (48") 250lbs
bagger set up 280lbs
weight box 300lbs
bucket 123lbs

price difference here in the northeast steel vs aluminum is $1k difference and 800lbs steel vs aluminum, and i will not have to deal with corrosion that we have a lot of in the northeast.also trailer dealers say i will be at max weight on steel trailers that have 7k axles and dry weight 1900lbs tri axle

I AM NOT AN EXPERT.

If your truck is rated to tow 5200lbs you are at or near 4000lbs with the current setup. Imagine if you will if a tire on that single axle trailer blows you have 4000lbs taking you wherever it wants to. Now imagine if you have a tandem axle and a tire blows you will have the ability to pull over somewhat safely. You have an additional 1200lbs to play with. If it was me I think you know the way I'd be leaning.

I have a single axle trailer that I bought for my Polaris RZR... but it tows my BX1870 around just fine. It's a 6x10, with a small extension on the front. (making 12')

Most single axle trailers are a little under-rated. If you get one with full sized tires, the axle is normally a 3500# axle, but they will rate the trailer for 2990# so you don't have to get it inspected. Also... the BX is relatively light... so you really don't need brakes. But, they are nice to have. (They just add $$$)

The aluminum trailer is nice... but they are expensive. I got mine for $600 used... and I think they are only $1000 new at TSC.

I don't have a pic of my BX on there trailer... but here's the one I use.

I agree 100% - but also imagine the scenario where the pickup truck blows a tire. You can't protect against everything, but nothing wrong with adding a layer of protection where you can (afford to).

I use a Polaris 12 foot aluminum single axle trailer (empty weight 700lbs) with 2990lb axle to tow my BX2660 with FEL or 2750 blower around without issue or fear of being overloaded. Still below the weight rating by a few hundred pounds.

You are way over thinking this.

If it were me, I would buy a single axle utility trailer 6x12 with a 3500# axle and a wood floor (brakes is a plus). The trailer would be more than adequate to haul your tractor, yet second as a nice yard trailer to pull behind your tractor for doing yard clean-up, hauling dirt, mulch, etc...

A tandem axle would also be fine, but you are getting bigger than needed. Don't worry about tire blow outs, truck capacity, etc... You will be fine.

i bought a 6x12 tilt that will hold 5800lbs payload, single brakes 16" tires, this trailer is made to haul skid steer loaders and high lift machines,i could not find any alum trailers with my specs i wanted, there was a 4-8 week wait, so i had to buy what was on the lot.

Looks good, you just need to spray off the salt in the winter is all...even with aluminum you should keep the road chemicals off.

Have fun, looking forward to seeing it all loaded up.

Trailer brakes are always a good thing to have.

The biggest issue with a single axle trailer is being able to balance the load to get the proper tongue weight, which you should be able to do with a BX on that length of trailer.
