01 B2410 HSD rear pto lifters

Hello all! I am a new owner of a B2410 HSD with about 540 hours on.

The tractor runs great, however I have a question regarding the rear pto lifter arms...

It seems that when I go to raise them, they only start to raise once the lever is back to 6 or 7. Another words with the lever between 1-5 I get nothing. It does the same thing when I am lowering whatever attachment I have on.

Is this normal, if not what could be the cause? Is there any adjustment? It seems i should be getting a wider range of height up and down.

I'm going to assume that you are talking about the 3 point hitch. The pto, power take off, is the round odd shape shaft that powers things like tillers and snowblowers.

I would have to start my b2910 to verify, but it is similar to what you described. If I remember correctly, 3 is all the way down, and it starts lifting at 4 or 5.

I don't have your model but mine doesn't start to move the arms right away either.

The arms are moved by a big piston that has hydraulic pressure on one side and a part of the lift arms on the other side.

The pressure to that piston is ported by a valve connected to the 3pt lever. While I don't know precisely what your valve looks like, mine is a cosmo-riffic twin valve that not only ports pressure to move the 3pt up but relives pressure to lower it, depending on lever position. Its about the size of two decks of cards and it runs right under a grand for the L3800. The set-up for this valve is pretty detailed and the fact that it seems to work at all is a miracle. Yet, the older FORDs and other machines have super reliable valves that seem far less complex. Go figure.

Interesting... I will try and take some photos of lever position as it relates to lifting arm height.

This is our first tractor so Im just trying to make sure everything is operating as it should.

The three point valve on a B is a simple valve, it's also called a 1/4" valve, you can cycle the valve and get about 1/4" of each cycle.
It is either lifting in neutral or down.
When you get into the larger L and M tractors the valves will be what they call proportional and the three point moves with the position of the lever.

So your valve and three point are working just as they are designed.

It's kind of dumb that they even put numbers on it, as it should just have three labels: up, neutral, and down.

I have a B7610 which is the same machine just less fancy 3pt hitch. Theres a knob under the seat that regulates how fast the hitch goes up and down. Try playing with knob and see if your hitch becomes quicker to react. I slowed mine way down as it would rip my 4' bush hog up soo fast you thought it was a catapult...

The 3 point on my B2650 is proportional, I use it to tweak the cutting height of my rotary mower all the time.

One of us is very confused.
