D722 Wont Start

Hi All, 359er here and I am a new member. I have a D722 3 cyl that I want to install in a homemade tractor. I have fuel pumping to the injector pump and I cracked the air bleed bolt there, the fuel circulates to the injectors and returns to the fuel tank via the return tube. I removed all 3 injector lines from the pump as well as from the injectors. cranking the engine I cant get any fuel to come out of the pump injector line ports. Hope I explained this so all can understand. Looking forward to hearing how to remedy this situation. Happy to be onboard and Thanks for any and all help.

make sure the fuel shut off lever or solenoid is in the "on" position. If it is, and no fuel from the delivery valves, then your pump is likely in need of internal repair.

Lugbolt, thanks for the reply. My engine came without the fuel solonoid shutoff mechanism. it has two levers instead , the bottom is the throttle I believe and the top one is the fuel shutoff. both are controlled by the coil spring that surrounds the shaft. I tried starting the engine with both levers in the reverse position the spring keeps them to no avail. Is there a compression release on these engines?

Re: D722 Wont Start

Do you have working glow plugs? How long are you using them for?
Does it spin over slowly or quickly? Does it try to run or just crank? What color smoke is coming out?

Not enough information sorta made responses dry up. Photo of this mechanism would help. Knowing what your engine came from would help as well. Is this a Refer. engine, pump engine, Gen/lights engine or?

Oh... and you really want to spark some interest.... Start a TRACTOR BUILD Thread in the Fabrication Forum and remember...... It's all myth till you ad pics:p:D
