Not sure which forum to put in under so I will try here.

I have always loved forums groups when I get into something new. Antennas/sat dishes, hunting, electronics, Cars, trucks,diesel engines,painting,welding,tractors and so forth. The net is great to find a good forum for some hobby or toy you bought and its time to get the most out of it or help you along with problems.

I have always been on one of the other tractor forums when I had my ford lgt 145 setup. Once I got my kubota a few months back I found you guys. Lots of you have been very helpful in pointing me in some right directions - so THANKS.

I always try to give back when i can. I have been getting my bx up to speed (75% done now). I figured a lot of you guys already have what i have or there have been posts on it before. So didnt want to start a post on every project or item. Rather I will list what I have done or am about to do. I always take pictures of my projects. So if anyone wants me to post about anything I bought/fixed/serviced pictures or a review of something let me know.

My list of what I have and added and did (and I blame t33jetman for getting me started down this path with his post and pictures of his bx and cab!)

the BX like many of the smaller kubota's - hell all of them, are typically underpowered when it comes to making PSI at the hydraulic pump. The pump is tuned to get the numbers up there - but the bypass has been set to relieve pressure at "x" psi. On the BX series that "X" is about 1750 psi......fine if thats all you need - but by removing one big ass bolt and placing a 5 cent washer behind the main relief spring, you are making the spring a wee bit stronger, thus allowing the pressure to build up higher until the relief valve kicks in - typically closer to 2000 psi. Now that is a difference you can feel! The washer is about the thickness of a piece of paper folded about three times, so the "shim" is small as hell, but the difference is there.

Does it place a little more pressure on the system........yes is does. Is it going to hurt the machine, jury is still out!

85hookie has it right for the shims. Not sure if I should do a little write up on it in a separate post. Was very very easy to do. If I felt like spending more time and a little less money I could have tracked down the shims myself and went and made a gauge up.

But bxpandeds was all set and time is money for me and more so - I spend so much with bxpanded they gave me some type of reward points. Wound up the gauge was free or just about so

Once I saw a few posts about the psi, I starting thinking - wonder what my bx machine is set to. So saw I had the bxpanded points. Ordered up the kit.

Kit came with clear instructions. Very. Removed one of my hydro lines 9I think it was the white one after warming up the kubota by using the bucket a bit. Set the rpm to 2k with the gauge on it. Lifted up on the loader arm. The gauge went to 1650 only. Older machines people say spike up first and then settle to the running number. Mine is new enough i guess - no spike yet.

I used two shims and got the psi to 1850. Some people go to 1900-1950 or 2k. BEcause I'm not sure just how much the higher PSi will shorten the life of stuff I picked 1850. 200 more than from the factory.

The shims get put behind the spring in the back. Take one nut off - nothing to drain or leaks. Put shims in, tighten and recheck your psi. Took longer to warm up the tractor then to test/shim, and retest!

My fear isn't bending stuff. Its running at higher pressure, means more heat on the fluid and more stress on all the seals and pump. Shortening the life of everything.

Just how much so - nobody knows.......... but 1650 was too low. I'm happy at 1850. 200 more psi and I can feel the difference.

sorry got caught up with the shim talk Haven't installed the tilt sensor yet. The kubota is in snow mode right now. So will wait till the spring. I am newer to operating a FEL. So getting the bucket level for me is a bit of a challenge.

Came up with the idea below. Has a remote display that I will mount in the cab and the tilt sensor I will mount in the current level indicator that kubota put on the bucket. I expect it to work well, but wont be sure until i install and test it

FYI - The workshop manual for a BX25 states the relief valve setting pressure is 1778 to 1849 psi, so running it at 1850 isn't going to stress anything or wear anything out, unless your specific model has a lower factory specification. From a lot of threads, it appears many tractors may be a little low compared to factory specs and could pick up a slight improvement by bringing them up to factory spec. Many run higher than factory specs, but that is an individual choice.

I am not worried at 1850 at all, thats why I stopepd there. Was worried if I pushed it to 1950 or 2K

My neighbor has an L series! Was a bit bigger than I wanted to go for my first real tractor. But we have property in Upstate NY (150 acres) that we want to retire to one day down the road. I can see me (funds willing) get an L series or B series to augment the bx25 one day. Hey I can dream! I know a few of you guys have a his and hers kubota! My wife is already trying to steal my kubota on me! She put lettering on it saying its hers!

I can't seem to tell - even with that angle iron level indicator just when my bucket was level. I'm still new to tractors so I'm sure my inexperience plays a factor. Was smoothing out a rocked driveway and just kept going back and forth getting the bucket level. I figured for $40 and an hour of my time that indicator is worth a try. If it works out I will do a write up on here. I'm betting if it works like I think it will work I will be seeing a lot of you guys copy the install

This interests me, but raises a question:

Does this measure absolute level of inclination, or does is somehow measure the angle of inclination relative to the tractor? In other words, if you're grading directly down and trying to maintain a 10 degree slope with the tractor, will a 0 degree (bucket edge "even" with the imaginary line drawn through the contact patch of the front and rear tires) reading on the inclinometer match the 10 degree slope that the tractor is on?
