I obviously need to get my own garage in order but I figured I'd ask my old buddies on the interweb and see if people can throw in some things I haven't thought of for consideration.

Here's the deal. I currently have a HST B9200, loader, loaded tires, good condition, 60" mower deck, and a few other things that I'm selling hopefully this week.

Looking to upgrade. There are a handful of the HST B2910, B3030, etc machines that will give me a similar footprint with more hp and a bit more lifting capacity. I'm currently at ~770lbs and they would be 884ish.

On the other hand, there are a few HST L machines like L3010 and L3130 which are similar years, decent hours, and obviously the larger lifting capacity on both the 3 point and loader for another few $.

Criteria: I do logging in my woods, lift skids of OSB plywood to move them under cover, mow, and plow/blow snow with my current machine and would like similar for the next, knowing I will likely lose the mower for any machine and just get my wife a riding mower which is more nimble and less $ than a Kubota deck.

Concerns: Cash (of course), I'd like to get the best newer bang for my buck. Resale, all machines should be fairly easy to sell regardless of size but B seem to sell in CT easier than L. Capacity: more is better...always...isn't it? Lastly: Impact to lawn and yard...it will be bigger and harder to maneuver and park under cover. I have 3 acres so its not like its a city lot. Driveway is ~800ft and needs to be blown with these crazy winters we're having.

Ok guys, I appreciate anyone who has had this decision before to make and any things I haven't considered.

BTW all machines I'm looking at are in the 300-900hr range, supposedly in decent condition. One is 2300hrs but has a heated cab....but when I can get a cab-less machine with 2000less hours...I think I'll pick hours over cab...I can always add a cab but can't unwind hours.

what jobs are you doing or attempting to do with the current machine where performance is lacking or is incapable of doing said job. since you have a machine already it will help us make a determination of what kind of upgrades you really need. if you plow/snowblow with current machine and don't believe there is any room for improvement, that kind of settles the power argument. does it have traction issues? weight or tires will change that drastically. does it lift any and everything you've tried without complaint? if so, a minimal increase in capacity would be fine. obviously more is better, but more when it's never used doesn't really do you any good.

I guess to summarize, where is your current machine lacking based on what you do with it? traction, lifting power FEL/three point, digging power, pto based power? transmission style change?

Venom, all good points I wasn't clear on.

I "Want" more hp for the blower, more lifting capacity on the 3 point and loader. I struggle with the pallets of OSB. Yes I can always break them down but I'd prefer not to.

I'm sticking with HST for sure.

I guess it just comes down to how much money do I want to spend to lift more...its like $1500 for a newer machine with 100lbs more...or $5000 more for a L machine that can lift like 1000lbs more.

if it struggles, it risks it's long term reliability. in my mind there is only one way to go. L.

If your are struggling now, with a 100lb more you will be still struggling. 1000lb is 10X more than the b -that will make a difference. I would definitely go with the L.

Agreed guys....just weighing the $1500 vs $5000 argument....unfortunately my money tree was affected by the drought or something.......
