All,

My reaction over time has been to give up on plastic cans.

I decided that the new "Safety Caps/Spouts" on all the plastic cans were going to kill me or my loved ones some day, so I gave up on them.

I now only use Type II metal cans. I can get them on Amazon for $57.00 or so with my prime account.

I have a 5 gallon red (Gas), a 5 gallon yellow (Diesel), and a 2-1/2 gallon red (Gas/oil mix).

I figure I am about $200 into my gas cans (The small red one was more expensive!), but I am set for the next 20 years or so the way I treat my equipment.

My wife can maneuver and use the cans, and I don't have to go raging about the government trying to kill me every time I touch a gas can.

On the pre algore cans, I buy up the spouts at auction, they used to sell the spout kit, at the farm stores for $6, so I generally don't go higher than that, for cans with the spouts in them. Most of the time, I just take the spouts off, and leave the cans behind. I always make sure to check them for sun damage and brittleness, prior to bidding...:D

I bought a couple of spouts to be able to pour out of the new garbage-safety valve cans. Awful. the safety spouts leaked more fuel then if I was pouring straight out of the can and spilling it. The EZ-Pour spouts are flawless. They fit the new cans. I also put in hi-flow vents, and can dump 5 gallons of gas in under a minute into the generator feed tank.

Also, I personally love the new No-Spill cans. The nozzle faces down into the Kubota's fill hole, and press the button to start the filling. Now, llike every other safety nozzle out, it gulps in air, slowing down the process of filling. The idea is when it gets to the nozzle, and can't gulp air, it vacuum stops pouring. Good theory, doesn't work all that well in real life. I added a hi-flow vent into the can. I can empty 5 gallons in diesel into the tractor in 45 seconds. It is awesome. I'll throw up some pictures if I remember to take them today.

aint it amazing........

30 years ago - "man" invented a plastic can that had a plastic nozzle and a plastic vent.....and gas poured freely....

then the 1% screwed that up and all companies that feared of getting sued due to the stupidity of their clients, made life for the 99% pure hell with a multibutton leaking contraption that was ....well, ya'll fill in the blanks.....

now a company(s) has produced the replacement nozzles and vents to make them old cans. ..........BACK TO THE way they used to be......

aint life freaking amazing!!!! I hope they dont get sued.......

personally - if a can does not have the top handle and a side handle....I aint gonna use it, I have adapted all my cans to pour easy and they are only as safe as the DA that uses them.;)
