B7100 Clutch Acting Strange ???

On a B7100, what would cause the clutch to to continue to operate once it is disengaged?

After the clutch pedal is pressed the tractor continues to pull/travel for at least 5 to 6 seconds. This even happens with a full loader bucket (approx 500 #) traveling up hill. The only way to stop the tractor after the clutch is disengaged is to jam on the brakes, or it will continue moving for several seconds.

Has anyone experienced this happening?

Mis-Adjusted clutch, bad pressure plate, Bad throw out bearing, really rusty clutch disk, pressure plate, and or flywheel.

Try adjusting the clutch pedal rod first.

In addition to what NIW said-- A bad pilot bushing in the end of the crankshaft can cause the same symptoms.

A warped clutch disc will do that too. Overheated and it twists.

Sounds like it may be time start gathering parts for a replacement. The tractor was built around 1980 and is still the original clutch.

Can anyone confirm the part numbers I have listed are correct for a B7100-DT

Pilot Bushing 66621-14120

Are there any other parts I should be looking to replace at the same time, once I get around to splitting the tractor this fall ?

The current plan is to try to nurse it along so I can complete my current project before tearing it apart for an extended period of time.

Any suggestions or recommendations on suppliers other than my local Kubota dealer for clutch parts at a reasonable price.

You could always check your dealer's prices with online dealers to see if it's any cheaper getting them by mail. I've seen clutch parts for the 7100 on eBay, but I don't know if the quality is any good. You can't go wrong with kubota parts, they seem to last a very long time.

I recently replaced clutch, pressure plate, TO bearing, pilot bushing, and other parts on my B7100 HST.

Got all the parts from Coleman's Equipment. Not sure I would try to save money by buying aftermarket parts, since I don't like wondering if they will last. Pay a little more just for the contentment.

I bit the bullet and ordered the parts from my local Kubota dealer.

I got:
Pressure Plate
Clutch Disk
T.O. Bearing
Pilot Bushing
Oil Seal

Now I'm wondering about a few other parts I'm finding in the "Clutch Rod Group". There are 3 Oil Seals listed with the Holder, release bearing.

66621-51420 SEAL, oil
09030-20328 SEAL, oil
09030-20357 SEAL, oil

Are these parts that usually get replaced with the clutch system ?

Give the holder a shot of grease and if it holds it your fine if not might want to replace them all.

Dan, that big seal that goes in the bell housing is FUN to get back in. If it's not in bad shape I'd leave it. It keeps grease from getting to your clutch. It's a tough neoprene material in a metal ring. Unless your shaft has been wallering around the the pilot bushing or the flex-coupling is shot you won't have any vibration to take the seal out. (I spent more time making an installation tool, and then driving the seal into place then it took to install everything from the pilot bushing to the flex coupling.)

The other 2 seals are there to hold grease in the holder. They are not expensive, but if you don't have grease slinging all over in the bell housing onto your clutch, I'd leave them alone.

Remember theses tractors were made for rice farming. Water was getting were you will never have water!!!

Now that I have ordered the parts, I'm hoping to be able to keep using the tractor for the rest of the summer on my project. I really don't have time to be laid up with an equipment issue. I'm hoping the clutch repairs will be my winter project.

I may be forced to see if I can find another used Kubota, if it becomes a bigger issue.

I wouldn't be suprised if it did! My father's b2910 battery is 14 years old now and is finally at the end of its life, but we revived it yesterday with some water and a charge. Longest lasting battery I have ever seen in my life.

I've bought a radiator and replacement hubs off of eBay that were aftermarket. The radiator drain port was not the same size as the original drain cock. Had to drill and tap it and add a straight drain cock with a hose fitting on the outlet. That worked out for the best anyways but I had to do something with the screen mounting holes because the radiator was way off.
The hubs themselves seem heavy duty, but the lug bolts were made of cheap metal and I stripped a bunch of them hardly tightening the lug nuts.

As for a second kubota, I'm contemplating another old one to mount my MMM to and make a dedicated lawn mower.

No matter what job someone is doing it always seems like there is one more thing that could be done. Well another thing that you could/should do is to replace the rear main oil seal on the engine. If you decide to replace this seal you need to remove the flywheel. Mark with something like a sharpie maker pen the alignment of the flywheel to the crankshaft. When reinstalling the flywheel the alignment marks make the job much easier. The bolts holes make it look like the flywheel can go on in any position and there is no dowel pin to help with the alignment. The bolt holes are actually different distances apart and there is only one correct way for the bolts to go. However the difference is so slight it is hard to see.
