B2301 vs b2601

Hi new here and buying my first tractor looking at the b2301 or b2601 . Small garden maybe 1/4 acre. Hunting trails and small food plots at hunting club. Some yard work , have a zero turn so mostly front end loader work and garden at house . Thanks for any information or opinions. Also getting a 4 foot bush hog and a tiller.

I have a BX25D on 2 acres that's in year 2 of service and it has been a godsend. It's a work horse that continues to amaze me. It has built rock walls, rebuilt a 1000' road, hauled logs, rough landscaped 2 new homes and a lot more. The 2301 is quite similar and should be enough for the tasks you describe but if you can afford it the extra horsepower of the 26 should be considered.

I didn't even consider the B2301 because I wanted as much HP as I could get in a small package.

You're going to love it! If you're thinking about getting a grapple add the 3rd function valve now. Some people have complained a little about the ergonomics but I have to say I really like the feel of the tractor and the reverse pedal works fine for me. Congratulations!

Good call Pcola! Here are the implements that I find most useful thus far: box blade, BH thumb, rock rake for the bucket. Can get a lot of work done with those..........and it's fun.

I got the B2601 because the price was not that much more and the salesman's advice to go with most HP I could afford. Really though, I would like to use them back to back just to see if I could notice the difference. Seems like Kubota would save $$ by just offering say the 2601 and streamlining their inventory? But what do I know, I'm sure there is a good reason for offering such close power ratings.

That's what I was thinking and really a small price difference so I went with the 2601. Will be my first tractor I own. I have a bx 1870 at work with several torro zero turns and a JD 790 . Which we will replace with a kabota this year.

I think you'll be very impressed with the 2601.
A month into ownership mine has really impressed me.
I too didn't consider the 23hp in the same machine. My decision was between the larger 2650 and the 2601. I'm very happy with my choice!

I too am confused about why there is a 2301 for little price difference.
I'm days away from ordering the 2601, but the 2301 is about 4 inches narrower and fits through all my gates. So I now reconsidering. What do i really miss out on?
I have 3 acres, of uncultivated hillside (not to steep but will need to go across the hill). It's slightly rugged terrain prior to me doing any work on it.
Will add backhoe, not sure about thumb yet. Will also use post hole digger with downforce and box scraper.
Work includes grading for logger style road up hill, digging over 200 9" fence posts, trenching for retaining walls and burying pipe.
I want low centre of gravity, so wider wheelbase seems better, but B26 is slightly higher.
Any advice would be greatly received.

I was in a similar situation, and went with the BX25D, the only concern would be on clearance issues on your land. I was less concerned with that and wanted to be more stable and also needed to keep it narrow. I did add the 2" spacers from Bro-Tek to help with the hills. Between Bro-Tek & BXpanded the BX is loaded for work and the better value for me. If you are going with the B go with the 2601 IMHO.

could not have said it better, B series is an awesome series, and I would go with the 26hp over the 23 any day, everyday!

the bx with a few add ons is a workhorse! those two company's make a great tractor a fantastic tractor!

So I decided to buy the B2601. I am definitely glad that I did...
Firstly, get as much horsepower as you can for the size.
1. The tractor struggles a little when dragging the box scraper up-hill, but just about makes it - any less powerful would not be good.
2. The back-hoe has no problems getting through hard sand stone.
3. The front loader will carry a whole bucket of crushed gravel (~1000 lbs) - be sure to have backhoe attached for balance!!
4. I benefit much more from the ground clearance than low center of gravity. I am very often driving over a mound of dirt that I just created, and the B2601 gets over it just fine.
5. I have not had a problem with extra width. The power more than offsets the difference.
