About a month back I was looking for a loader for my JD1070. I ended up finding an LB400 loader on CL for $400.00. When I got to the place to look at it, (ended up being a junkyard) I saw the tractor sitting in the back with 4 flat tires, hood bent up, and most of the front end missing. The guy told me he was going scrap the tractor. I offered him $800.00 for all. After getting it home, I bought 2 new tires for the front and found to good used rear tires. I built a new battery box and grill, straightened out the hood, replaced the injection pump, cleaned the injectors, replaced the water pump and the fan. Not bad for a $2000.00 total investment. I still have more work to do but, she runs like a top and only has 398 hrs.

Looks a lot like the l2202, I got at an auction for $1350, a coupla years ago. I call it the junkubota. I keep rigging it together, works great on a 4' bush hog. Ugly tractors is the best ones...:D

So, my tractor lost power steering due to the snap ring at the bottom of the steering column rusting out, filling my clutch housing with hydraulic fluid. This led to me removing the steering column to repair and then split the tractor to replace the clutch. So I figure while its all apart, I might as well repaint it!

I couldn't bring myself to pay $40.00 for a quart of Kubota blue paint so I mixed my own. I used the Rustoleum gloss black and royal blue and mixed them 50/50. I think it looks pretty close.

Motmow, is that a Harbor Freight soda blaster in the photo of the loader? If so, how do you like it and do you think it was worth the cost?

Yes, it's a harbor freight blaster. It works very well as long as you buy the fine coal slag, (Black Diamond Fine Blasting Abrasives) the bag with red lettering instead of black, from either Tractor Supply or Northern Tool. The medium grit stuff just clogs up the nozzle. Also, I found that if you open the nozzle valve all the way and just open the hopper valve enough to get sand flowing it works great and you don't run out of sand as fast. It works great and saves a lot of time.
