I'll send you a download link for the WSM that should help you trouble shoot the problem.

I have a similar issue on my L1801DT, the 3 point hitch will not lift. It will lower, and I can control the drop speed with the knob. I have a tiller on the back, and when it is raised, it wont drop, for days. So I'm thinking the piston/rings are good/ not passing.
I just purchased the tractor last week, and the previous owner welded a hydraulic ram to raise the 3 point hitch, instead of fixing it. I would rather get rid of the ram, and use the stock lifter. Just wondering if I should rebuild, or if I'm missing something...

If someone added a ram to the three point, how do you know the stock piston seals are good?

I disconnected the ram, and the 3 point stayed up until I lowered it. I will remove and clean the hydraulic filter, and put new HTF in it, at least I can be able to rule that out before I go deeper.
