I cannot find out why I can't start the tractor. I rebuilt starter, checked all wires, etc.

When I touch a screwdriver to the hot pole and the little pole, the starter activates so I know the hot wire is OK from the battery.

Can I jump the small terminal somewhere along the wiring sequence and get it to start and still be OK?

thanks

Based on what you are describing .....sound like the solenoid is bad.....by "screwdriving" you are in essence becoming the solenoid! Is that part separate or integral to the starter?

12 volts

Probably you (both) have a safety switch problem or voltage drop through several safety switches

Try to apply 12 directly to the small solenoid wire and see if the starter cranks

Be sure and have something block The wheels so you don’t get run over

Don’t think so.

Doing what the OP stated jumps out the safety circuit, NOT the starter solenoid. If he is doing what others seem to do in the same situation.

I don’t think it is possible to eliminate the starter solenoid without disassembling the starter…granted he said he rebuilt the starter.

What am I missing?
