Dear fellow Kubota owners,

I am pretty new in this forum but really need your help.
Since a few months I own a Kubota L2202DT and I am very happy with it until last Saturday when to front axle stopped doing what it supposed to do, giving me some extra traction.
When I started pulling down the shaft between the front and rear I noticed that the out coming propeller axis of the front differential is worn out.
I am trying to get a replacement but that is very difficult here in the Netherlands (where I live). Can somebody help me out e.g. does anybody know the part number of this part or even better can anybody offer me such a part for a reasonable price?

Kind regards,

Harm

Welcome to OTT Harm from the USA. Sorry to hear about your problem. Wolfman probably knows the part number but you could try and Google it.

Hi Mickeyd,

Thanks for the quick response. I spent already quite some hours on Google but was not able to find the part number :-(
The only thing I found out is that the part that I am looking for might be the same as for the L245dt. Is there anybody who could confirm this?
I need to be sure since this is a rather expensive part and becasue of that I would like to order the right one :)

Kind regards,

Harm

Can you post a picture of the part you need?
I'll send you a link for the WSM for the L245 compare the parts between the manual and what you have.

and the last two:

As you can see on the pictures the coupling and the axis are both worn out.
Would be good to have the part numbers or a nice offer for replacement parts (both).

On the housing of this part you can find the number 1827 (whatever it means). I provide you with as much as possible information I got in the hope that somebody gets triggered.....

A good machinist could spray weld material on the halves, and re-machine both halves, but it would cost you. Or, in the mean time, just re-asemble and drill a hole through both halves, and put a nut and bolt through the hole. Parts are buggered up, anyway, what more damage can you do??? Make the bolt fit sloppy in case it needs to slide a little...

Perhaps a machine shop could rework the shafts and convert it to a flexible coupling. A chain coupling using double row roller chain. Allows diasassembly and provides some flex. The difficult thing is the pinion will be difficult to machine.

Or a lovejoy coupling... http://www.surpluscenter.com/shop.axd/Search?keywords=lovejoy+coupling

Still will need some machining, If you are good with a grinder, or have a friend with a metal lathe, it wouldn't be too big of a job to take both the coupling and pinion shaft down to a standard size, and buy a coupling to fit..:D

#1 get a new coupling and see how tight it still fits the shaft.
I've seen them worn and still hold with a new coupler. ;)

Thanks all for your idea's. I am waiting for an answer from my local mechanic. He maybe can make use of his network. I will not only replace de worn out coupling because then it will only work for a very short time. If i will not be able to replace the axis i will weld a new coupling on it. That would be the most save and long lasting solition to my opinion. I am still looking forward to an answer that would lead to a original part from kubota. Also i am still looking forward to the partnumbers.

In the meantime i got my front axis pinion. If there are more people in need of grey market parts maybe i can help. Just let me know incl picture of what you need
