While back, I told you guys I'm Board Member and former President of this non-profit outfit - something I do for fun. With over 160 cars, and almost 90,000 square feet - we've grown to be the largest automotive museum east of the Mississippi:

www.classiccarmuseum.org

Today, we were getting our next Exhibit ready, thus the title of the thread.

I hand my hands on Muscle Cars like:

GT500 Shelby Mustang
'63 Chevy Impala 409 Convertible
Superbird
'69 (?) Camaro Z28
Road Runners
Challengers
Chargers
AMX
Buick GSX
Pontiac GTO 455

Motorcycles like:

Emblem
Curtiss
Henderson
Whizzer
Indian
Harley - 5 or 6 - 2 AMF Bi-centennials (Skeets - neither leaked oil!)
Sears
Norton
BMW
Bridgestone - 4 racers in the 10 or so there

Today was work - but still fun!:D

How cool is it to have an Emblem cycle with pedals and leather drive belt, that a family of 4 took across the country a hundred years ago? (It has a bench seat and jump seats over the back tire)

Or drive a Superbird?

Or see a 1976 AMF Harley not leak oil?????? I moved a Sportster and Electra Glide several times - not a drop!!!:D

The things we get there are kinda cool - and I feel fortunate to deal with them.:p

Skeets - - - Since we opened in 1997, we have raffled off a classic car every year. The last 12 years or so, its been an early Mustang convertible.

Skeets - didn't answer your question about the raffle car.

We buy them the way we give them away. We don't have the ability to restore them. We have a paid office staff - the "car guys" are the volunteer Board members.

We have a Board member that's been a Ford guy for many years, with many national champion cars of his own. He's the guy that gets the car each year.

He used to find 64-66 convertibles for $10k +/- in the northeast.

Then Barrett-Jackson started to be aired on TV.

Now, its more, and the good cars are harder to find.

I think this year's car was shipped up here from Florida.

Not my job - just a volunteer board member. I wish my job was this much fun!!!:cool:

True, I do know the rules..........I should know better....

Never thought to take pics at the time.....I was thinking I should have when I posted that. If no pics, it didn't happen...at least this time it did.;)

I'll try to get some in the next week or two.

Tooljunkie rightfully called me out on the "no pics, didn't happen" rule.

We had our exhibit opening tonight for the Muscle Cars and Motorcycles.

I was smart enough to get some pics this time.

This is just a part of 1 of our 4 connected exhibit buildings.

For you MOPAR guys with a Superbird, Curtiss and Emblem Motorcycles (4-seater Emblem in back went cross-country in 1914 with a family of 4), Buick GSX 455 (#201 of 698 built) and GTO 455.

Friend of mine and I moved all of them at least twice.

I am a big fan of Molar muscle cars.

Here's some pics of my brother's '69 Dart, my cousin used to drive this '63 Plymouth max wedge (he also used to drive a couple of Hemi cars for Rettig Brothers), his son had the '70 Roadrunner and the'69 Baracuda, he sold them. He also builds Mopar racing engines. My brother sold his dart also.
I used to drag race mopars also, when I was younger.

Next time I'm in, I'll try to get a better picture;)

It's two-wide in the front, and the 2 in the back face out - all seats are small. Can't imagine riding that 100 years ago!!

You guys have probably seen this, but it's worth revisiting.

I had seen that - so cool!!

We have a small display in one building that's called "Found in Barns" for obvious reasons.

We don't have anything like that in our display. Ours are more "utilitarian", like a Model T pickup, milk truck, etc.!;)

My dad and I were doing some work for an old lady across town. She hired us to do some dirt work and clean up. Dad did the dirt work, my task was to clean out the barn. The barn had a hay loft that had collapsed. So I'm going to town in there with a pitch fork. Was about a quarter of the way through the pile. Shoved the pitch fork into the hay and hit something solid and metal  Found a great condition 1962 plymouth savoy, 225 slant six, with a three speed on the column under the pile of hay :D my grandparents ended up buying the car off her for my brother. I was given a 65 belair with a 250 straight 6, and two speed automatic for christmas the year before. I shouldn't have sold the belair :(

Wish I had it today.......

My first car was a '34 ford cabrilet (convertible coupe.) Full fendered with a rumble seat. It had a '48 Merc engine with two carbs. I was 16 years old. Man I was in hog heaven. My dad traded a 12' homemade wooden boat for it. Wish I had it now.

I have a chance to get a 195* ford pickup truck for $500. Wished I had a shop built to work on it. Paint is actually in good condition, very little rust, and only a couple dents. No real interior damage either. Hasn't been started in years. But I wouldn't be worried about that though. Would end up with a new power plant anyway. Wife actually told me we could get it six months ago. I just need to go back over there with a trailer and cash. I guess I should measure it and see if it will fit in the garage :)

Daren, I would jump on it if it were me.
Probably gonna have to suck it up and get one of those portable car ports and some extra tin to enclose it, to give me a place to work on it. I'll have to run it by my wife again. All I got to do is mention hot rod, v8, and stick shift and she would be all over it :D
