my uncle who had a chainsaw shop in Cortland, NY.
Chainsaw Center in Cortland?

Seems they were father/son, or brothers?..?? Mott?

My old stomping grounds.

Great place and good people!

Bought a saw and bunch of stuff there (also hung out and BS'd some), and where I test drove a Husky 3120 almost 30 years ago.

Ding!! We have a winner!
The son was Jim? Can picture him...smart guy with saws, and a real good guy.

I moved from that area late-'80's, so it's been awhile.

Wow, small world!

15 yr old husky 55 . Just cut down a 24" oak that was leaning over my barn, had to chain it to a tree in the opposite direction so it wouldn't fall on my barn. All went well and have more firewood for next year

Husky 455 for the small stuff and Stihl MS 661C Magnum for the big stuff. Magnum is an appropriate name for this saw!

Still have my Slihl 034 that I bought 27 years ago and still runs strong. Last couple years I have been using my Stihl 362CM as my main saw and a stihl 180 I carry with me when I go to town. Lately I have been trying to justify buying the Stihl 462 CM when they come out.

One Homelite PP4218 and one Homelite el cheap'o wal-mart version. The cheaper one was brand new, and cost me $1 at the local landfill thrift store. Return from Lowe's. Removal of the spark plug, not an ounce of carbon on the plug nor on the top of the piston. I put gas in it and it runs fine.

For a homeowner with limited need for a saw, I didn't find it necessary to spend $400 on a saw. These little Homelite's work fine, and a total investment of $20 including the gas I put in them and a carb kit for the bigger saw.

Husqvarna. Nothing against Stihl. The local hardware store here carries and services Husky and they are beyond helpful. If they carried Stihl, I'd have one of those.

Two Stihl saws, a rear handle and a top handle plus a Stihl trimmer. Going to say they are 16, 5 and 18 years old, respectively. As mentioned above, between Stihl and Husqvarna I would go with the one that is best supported in your area. I have needed very little support but, it sure is nice to know they are there, ready/willing and able.

Much like a good tractor dealer..... ;)

I have a 1970s stihl 056 av chainsaw a friend gave me before he passed away. I took it to someone I know who works on small engines and he got it to run like new.

Cutting firewood and pulpwood, ran a 056 Super since 1982. Great saw!!

My Dad just sold it last year for $350. For as much wood as it cut, it was in great shape and ran like a top. We always took great care of it, but that puppy could work.

Didn't figure he'd get that for it, because anyone looking for a big saw would want a more modern/lighter vertical cylinder saw. Young fella didn't even dicker. I still wonder if he knew what he was buying.... At 18.8lbs without bar, my 20 year old 046 Magnum is just 14.4lbs, same HP, and ALOT more RPM.

Think it was $620 or $720 new ....little depreciation over 35 years.....

I’ve only got one saw right now, a Stihl MS361. I’m thinking of buying a smaller limbing saw to go with it some day.

I've got the MS362 and an MS025(250). They work well together, the older I get the more I like limbing with the small one.

Mines an 029super. Had it 20 or so years. Origional carb on the old girl. Replace the plug every few years if she quits starting on the 2nd or 3rd pull then we’re good to go again. That saw is the reason I replaced my Husqvarna 4stroke string trimmer with a Stihl 131 a couple weeks ago. Longevity & dependable, unlike that husky was for me

A friend recently gave me an old Homelite 150 with 16***8221; bar. Anyone know anything about these old saws?
