What kind of chainsaw you have?

An old Stihl, 029 I believe, I'd have to go look, I've had it along time. also a little Echo 301, great little saw. and about a year ago picked up a new Stihl 372.. lots of power but it gets heavier every day! Also a Stihl brushcutter which doubles as a weedwhacker for me.... yup, all ORANGE!

The 250 is/was a great weed/brush cutter!!

I looked at them, or something similar, in 1991 before I bought my FS86. IIRC, the 250 was 2 or 3 models bigger - biggest they made??

Just couldn't swing the extra bucks back then. I think OTD with some extras my 86 was $475 on 11/1/1991 (used to have the receipt).

The FS130 4 stroke was ~$400 a few years ago - just doesn't hold a candle to the Ol' Fart when it ran better. I hate to put much money into it after the ethanol gas got it. Runs OK, but not like it used to.

Huge $$$ back then, but well worth it I'm sure!! Great machine!!

It was pretty steep ($500 4 yrs ago). It was the biggest string trimmer I could find. I had a job that required weedeating a 4500 ft chain link fence. I took the guard off and extended the string so that one pass was all it required to cut the bahia grass. It cut as fast as I could walk. Only problem was there was an old man operating it (me)! It's really not that heavy in comparison to my FS110 (hybrid 2 stroker). Lot of power per lb.

I have 3- a cheap no-name electric for hacking palm fronds off the palms,
my 20+ year old Husqvarna EL16 worm drive electric, and my 40 year old McCulloch Pro Mac 650 with a 16" bar. It came with a 24", but I prefer the shorter bar. It's heavy, but it's a wood cutting mofo. I have put one sparkplug & one starter rope in it in all this time, no other service or repairs needed.

If relatively new, your FS110 is actually a true 4-cycle that might need valve adjustment on occasion, but my 130 hasn't in 3 years. No surprise, rocker box cover is on the top behind shrouds.

While they take same mix as our older 2-cycles, they do say the 4 strokes should use synthetic oil in the mix. Cuts down on carbon build-up around the valves.

RCW, it's 10 yrs old at least. It requires oil in the mix. I think they were in a transition stage when they made this one. I'll check the manual. THey had a recall I remember on the gas cap. It was really easy to put the cap on and it not seal right.....not a good situation! I don't use it a lot since I got the 250. Have been using the Stihl synthetic for several years. Good stuff!

MS270c With 20” bar. It’s about 8 years old and cut a fair amount of wood. Looking back I would of got the comparable pro series for a couple hundred more. But overall I can’t complain. It’s paid for itself over and over again and not once has had an issue.

grew up using that same saw!! we still keep it as a memento of cutting wood with Grandpa!

my saws are:

Stihl 250ms good for most jobs & limbing.

Stihl 291ms good for dropping bigger stuff.

Got my first "real" chainsaw this past year. It's an Echo CS-490 I believe.
Have yet to use it but i have some projects coming up this spring as we're looking into getting a wood stove in the house.

I also have a battery powered pole saw.

Kombi KM 131R with Pole Pruner 12" bar and mowing head with metal blade

With these 3 I have been able to take car of all my needs.

Would like to get a MS series Arborist saw. Super low weight for details work. Just a want not a need.

Stihl.

The 025 in the foreground is the general purpose saw, as it's the lightest and has the fewest teeth to sharpen. The 084 in the back features an engine bigger than some dirt bikes and the 3' carbide tooth chain for it costs more than some saws.

In between are an MS290 and an MS360Pro. Good solid saws. Rounding out the collection is a TS08 wearing it's cut-quick arm. They could also wear a chain bar, but without a chain brake that's not for the faint of heart!

I've have consistently cut about 12-15 face cord of hardwood for the last 30 plus years,and am on my second saw.Stihl 028 super woodboss served me well for twenty some years,then was replace with a husqavarnia 55 rancher,that has also been a good saw and seems to have plenty of life in it after a decade or so of use.
Nothing really ever has been a problem

I've got a Husqavarnia I bought new in '85. Used it yesterday. Probably has cut more the 150 cords. Have a Sach Dolmar 111, like new, and I use it as a backup. Stihl pole saw for when you feel like visiting the chiropractor!

I had a still pole saw for a while, damn thing just about crippled me, I'm way to old for that.
