I'm not one that's scared of snakes, But, walking around a bail and seeing that would just about do me-in......
I just picked up two round bails Monday, and now i'm going to look at them a little closer......:D

Looking at the pic on my phone. No access to the computer. Is that a bloody Python in the hay bail???

If I come across a snake like that, I would be screaming and running like a little b@&$h

I remember picking up square bales that had snakes partially in them from the field and putting them on the trailer. Some times you saw it after you used your thigh to throw it up on the trailer, other times you felt it on your leg and screamed like a girl, dropped the bale and ran!

After the first one of the year you kind of start to look before picking up.

Still gives me the creeps and that was years ago! And snakes don't really bother me that much.

Luckily they always seemed to be in head first so no bites!

Snakes here dont get that big. 30" long maybe for a big one. They do like crawling under bales though.

Noticed that in Vermont too. Occasionally you would hear of someone finding a rattle snake, but never saw one in the twenty years I lived there. They had some black snake that got pretty long, but would only find it in the low lying areas. Not in the mountains where I lived.
I jumped out of my service truck in Florida and landed on a four foot rattle snake  had it wrap around my foot and sunk it's fangs into the side of my boot. Almost fainted on that one  was hyperventilating for a bit. Mexicans on the pipe crew got it off my boot and killed it. I jumped back in the truck and refused to get back out till they ran a trackhoe through the area and knock down the tall grass ;)

I am deathly afraid of ANY kind of snake! Back in the mid 1960's, when I was working for the Pacific Gas and Electric Co., we were running a high pressure gas
main through the foot hills in north central California (lots of rattle snakes). One
morning I went to get in my welding truck and someone had killed a 39" rattler and put it in my floor board. Scared the holy crap out of me. I had my helper get it out of the truck. I looked around and found a 2x4 about 3 feet long but no one would tell me who put it there. I think I would have beat the guy half to death if I had found out who did it.

Got my first groundhog, today, in the connibear trap, next to where I had just planted some lettuce. He didn't look pissed off, kinda peaceful. Planted him, and the lettuce, at about the same time...:D
