Found this spring under my B3300SU

It's now getting dark so thought I'd be lazy and ask you guys instead of crawling around under my tractor in the dark. Anyone know what this is?

Anything not working correctly? Thats probably why. The spring wore through and broke, next fell off. Where it goes, i dont know,i would have to say best is to look under and see. To replace it from dealer you need to know what it does. The parts guy cant be expected to know where it goes either.

Maybe you have a mower that has an idler pulley to keep the belt tight? This spring may go to it.

Maybe it belongs to your neighbor and you just happen to find it!

Sorry.... Yes, clearly it is broken. Stupid question time: how will I know where it came from if it's missing?

I didn't actually run it today, I just happened to be walking by and saw it under the tractor.

Since we're playing a game of clue, do you have a mower setting under your tractor?

If yes, look for the pulley that keeps the belt tight. See if it has a spring attached. Feel the belt to see if it seems real loose. OH, WARNING-- do not do this while the mower is being powered.

Well, you guys got me crawling around in the dirt with a flashlight looking under the tractor. [emoji2]

My mower is parked 100 yards away and hasn't been run since last summer, so I'm confident it doesn't belong to the mower.

As I suspected, it's a lot harder to see what is there than what isn't there but I ran it for a minute to test some basic controls: all hydraulics work (duh?). The brake returns correctly and has a spring in place similar to this.

I'll try to swing by the dealer and see if they have an idea and will run the tractor through some paces to see what's not working.

As for the stupid questions, it's due to this being my first tractor. Only got 38 hours on it..... I'm a newbie to the forum as well as a newbie to tractors.

If this works:
It is a return spring on your HST. It is the 110 part in this link.
If this link does not work, go to Kubota.com. Go to the parts section. look your B3300 and look under the Hst section.
At least it looks like the same spring.

It looks like that spring should be, about, under your right foot.

Link didn't work but I'm trying to look on kubota.com without any luck so far. Sounds about right on the location. It was on the right side, smack dab in the middle between the wheels. It's not the brake pedal return spring though, I've confirmed that's still there.

It's from the top clutch bracket just above the zerk fitting leading to an 1 1/2 x 12 inch angle that runs side to side. I just repaired this angle as it broke and had to weld it to repair. Have fun reattaching it, it's a bear to do. And thank you, for I was under my B3300su tonight with a flashlight.
