For those w/FEL, when parking, who places bucket flat on bottom vs. tilted forward with bucket front edge contacting ground. I see this trend varies place to place. What do you do?

I guess that depends how much you like stubbing your toes. I have a piranha bar. On edge for me!

Edge down so it will not catch toe or other.
If parking it outside I would say on edge for drainage.
Usually whatever wqy it hits.

For me, edge down tilted forward.
Water and safety ;)

Since my bucket is self-draining (see my Piranha bar installation if you don't believe), I don't have to worry about water collecting in it. When I park in the yard, I usually park facing downhill, with the edge firmly bedded, brakes locked together and clamped down, and the tranny in the lowest gear.

When I park in the driveway, I put the Piranha bar flat on the ground to ensure no prowler bangs his (or her) ankle and creates a scene.

Unless other is needed mine is flat, don't worry about water cause it's always parked in the dry.
Me too. An old guy once told me to always retract the rams fully (bucket flat in my case) whenever possible, just as an extra layer of protection for the rams- can't get dinged or rusty when fully retracted.

Lil Foot, I would say that was good advise.

You never know when something could get knocked over and end up with a bent ram.

Boy, that would be a bummer -- come out in the morning ready to work and find out your pistons had rusted all up!

Loader up high, bucket in dump position. No, wait-thats some doughhead across the river. All winter like that. It just sends me. Dude works in a mine, everything is safety related, oblivious to the potential dangers. And liabilities.
Loader on ground , bucket flat to minimize trip hazard. Always under a roof when not in use.

I had a friend who would leave his bucket up in the air. He went in for lunch and when he came back out his dog was squished under the bucket.

That sure was a hard lesson learned. I hope he at least got the msg the first time. :(

Depends.
My 'little orange whore' usually sleeps under cover so its bucket flat and all pressure relieved off of the system. If it's left on any kind of an incline the FEL is tipped down so it bites into the ground so she won't roll away in the night.

When stored indoors, I tilt bucket slightly forward and tend place on flat bottom. Always jiggle joystick to relieve pressure of hydraulics. Also has made for a quick detach position if I want to work in the field for a few days. Good range of opinions and practices here.
