I just recently purchased a 4X4 B6100 in VGC at an estate sale for $3000 and it came with a front end loader. I have always wanted to get a Kubota (a newer one preferred) but for the money, I don't think I went wrong.

My neighbor has one of those green tractors with the yellow wheels that we don't like to talk about here, and ever since we moved into the neighborhood, I have wanted to buy a compact tractor since all of the neighbors had one... By the way, I know absolutely nothing about anything larger than my lawn mower! lol

With that said, I own approx 12 acres (from a family farm) and of the 12 acres, I mow approx 4 of the acres with a Husqvarna garden tractor. The other 8 acres is scrub grass and brush that has potential if I had the means to clear it (Hint, Hint).

I started reading the manual until it got really boring, so I figured I would try to find a forum specializing in Kubota tractors that would be able to point me in the right direction. I would like to know what attachments I can use either on the front (with or without the loader) and / or on the 3PT. hitch. Should I shop for a certain size? Can I use a brush hog? Should I add weight? I am really at a loss here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you so much for your time.

I am more green than orange I suppose. it looks like it has 12 PTO horsepower so the size and weight of the implements has to be matched (generally speaking).

If you get a brush hog it might need a 3 footer. I was thinking a 4 footer would work but I found this link about your tractor where the guy said it was too heavy but he lists all the implements he uses with your tractor.

http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttalk&th=57739

Unfortunately, it is a slippery slope once you figure out what you can do with your tractor you figure out other things you could do with a slightly bigger one. :)

It sounds like you started with a really nice unit though and you will be amazed by how you ever lived without it!

Like Phil said - you got a very nice tractor - the FEL is not going to move the world, but it will make your back very happy! :) For 3 K - you stole it !:D You did not say how many hours are on it .....or if 4wd

adding weight is always a good answer - unless you are going to cut grass all day on a semi wet surface - weight on/in tires or rear end will "out weighs" any down fall.:)

Depending on what you are doing - a 4' hog would work - but the rear of this ol girl is rated at 400lbs, and you might not be able to pick up something reaaaal heavy - and as far as cutting - you are not going to mow down trees!!

http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/001/2/6/1269-kubota-b6100.html

But you will be surprised at what this tractor will do - DO NOT let the 14 HP fool you! It will pull a riding gas mower around by its short hairs that has 23 HP .....if you never had a diesel, well - they are beasts....period.

you have a 3 pt cat 1 on the rear - most all small tractors have this type.

please send us some pictures !:)

I'm sure there are several people with 6100's but I know Eric (another one of our orange brothers) has a 6100 that he works like a dog. He has a landscape business and if I remember correctly he pulls a 4' rotary cutter on a regular basis. You may have bought a small beast but it will probably surprise you at what you can do with a small diesel tractor. I'm sure some of the other brothers will chime in with some useful info that will be helpful to you.

If you look into a bush hog style rotary cutter, just check out the manufacturers web site for the cutter and check the specs. They should have the weight listed. My 4ft howse rotary cutter weighs in at around 480lbs. And my 5ft finish mower weighs around 420lbs. Instead of getting a rotary cutter, you also have the option of a flail mower depending on how rough and over grown the land is. So you have plenty of options for your tractor :D just gonna have to pay attention to what the old gal can lift :D

My tractors a 15 horse, and handles both the rotary cutter and finish mower with ease

Thank you all for the hints, they were greatly appreciated!!

When I purchased my Kubota, the hour meter read 1100.4 hours. However, I don't think the meter is working. I will need to replace that meter and I would like to get aftermarket gauges for water temp, oil pressure, and possibly volts. I think they would dress the old girl up a bit...

How 'bout a ROPS... I'm just not sure if the B6100 ever had one... does anyone know for sure?? I know of a welding /fabrication shop down the road that will make a ROPS to fit my tractor if need be.

The back wheel size is a 16X7. Now, can I put a wider tire on the same rim? I currently have agriculture tires but I'm sure they won't be "yard friendly". I know they have an industrial and a turf tire available. Which one is best for all situations??

The hydraulics: Is it possible to change over from the direct hook-up (that the tractor has now) to quick connect?

Thanks again for any responses to my posts, I will post pics very soon!!!

You will run into a little bit of a brick wall when it comes to the temp gauge hook up, The b6100 does not have a water pump ( its a thermo siphon system) and no place for a temp sending unit to be installed. Some install an adapter in the upper hose for the sending unit.

And do a Volt gauge and not an amp gauge as it has an dynamo ( it's where the water pump should go) and not an normal alternator.

Do as Daren pointed out and go through Kubota Corp to get the ROPS, it's cheap and correct for the tractor.

If it's a 4x4 your going to have to stay with the right front and rear tire combo as the 4x4 system will get into big trouble without the right tire /rim size.

If you haven't done so yet go to Kubotabooks.com and download the three part WSM (Work shop Manual) and the OPS manual for your tractor.

Yes it's possible to switch to Quick disconnects.
Just remember you can not just end a feed line as it's an open system and needs to always flow fluid.
Also most of the fittings in those years are British Standard Pipe Taper (BSPT) and not NPT, they do make adapters fittings for the threads.

Don't know where Tractor Data got it's info for B6100/B7100 3 point lift capacity. I have a 1980 B7100 & the original owner's manual states lift capacity is 400 KG which is 882 lbs. I also had a 1947 Ford 8N & the Kubota would lift anything I moved with the Ford. I have a King Kutter 48" brush cutter & it lifts that easily for transport. Same with a 48" Bush Hog finish mower.

Piker,

I would have to agree - seems a wee bit light at 400lbs! I hoped that WAS a misprint! :D:)

I had a 53 Ford - it would pick up rail road ties out on a 6' boom pole not a problem ! :p

I had a B6100, 1980 year. It was 2 wheel drive. Had Ag. tires on the back. Bought it to strictly mow with. Was replacing a Sears 10HP lawnmower after moving to the country with 3 acres. I had a 7' (seven) rear blade I use for a couple of years before I cut a foot off of each end. I used a 4' finish mower for years, but it came with a belly mower. That tractor would handle it with ease. Ag tires not a problem on lawn. Machine is not heavy enough to cause ruts unless you're mowing during a monsoon.

Travis, I have pretty much the same configuration. Mine's a '78, and twice the $$. Hold off doing anything with the tires! A couple of weeks ago I spread my wheels out to discourage it from rolling over, and I "discovered" that they were too heavy, and they made a sloshing sound when I flopped them down. Now, here's the amazing thing: I've had to drive over my neighbor's beautiful Bermuda-grass lawn to get into my back yard, and I noticed that the Ag tires left a noticeable footprint, but it disappeared pretty fast. I've made three trips on a day soon after a few days of rain... no tracks!

Drive carefully and I think you'll be pleased at how tenderly your tractor treats your lawn! :)

Down on the bottom right of the overview page it has a place to contact Peter. I have talked to him a couple of times and he would probably like to hear from any of us and I'm sure be glad to make the correction.

Hey all, It's me again.... :D

I just received an E-mail from a friend that has a B205 dozer blade for sale. I was wondering if that particular model would adapt to my B6100?

Thanks again for your time!

You are placing on the front or the rear?

Either way - anything IS possible ......throw enough time and money and you can build/do anything! Better be a hellva buy - cause the adaptation is gonna take some time and energy!:)

Well, I was gonna put it on the front... I really want something to use on the front that will be 3 way, but not sure which way is best.

Travis, I'm really confused (okay, guys, no wisecracks!) You've got a nice FEL - why are you thinking of a 'dozer?

I've seen several posts about that unit on B7100s, so yes, you could run it. Is your buddy's blade a 3-way or a 4-way? Converting the hydraulics would be a challenge!

It should work if the 6100 has the same frame Dimensions as a 7100, but honestly I don't know:confused: .... Do you know what model it was on? I'm not sure if manual for my b205 says any other models it fits... My wife moved it on me and I can't find it at the moment

There was a feller on here a few days ago that found one that came up about 6" short on the subframe... Someone noted that it may have been on a 5100...

I have a B205 mounted on my B6100hst, I would say it is the correct model.
