Been crazy around here and I've not got to deal with my glow plug issues yet (bad coil or switch L225)

But it snowed again and could use a little back blading. Anyone got a suggestion on how best to s up temporary jumpers to the glow plugs?

Is straight 12v to hot?

I don't think you'll have an issue. On my switch if you turn to the left it goes through the gp indicator. When turning to the right to start it, it still puts power to the glow plugs but bypasses the gp indicator.

That is how mine works. I just don't know the wiring from the switch thru the glow circuit... for example is there a resistor or anything else that drops voltage or amps in circuit to the glow plugs. Understand glow coil itself may be a resistor and do not know how much it drops things. Like would a 10 sec. glow with out coil in the circuit equal a 30 sec. glow with it.

No resistor on that setup, just 12V
Same time as thru switch.

Glad to know. I'll report back sometime how it goes. Results might help someone else.

Test one- Before trying to jump plugs; used a multi meter and it showed 12v thru to each plug with the key turned to the left. Also showed 12v when touching the coil. Coil still never glows red.

Tried several times jumping the first plug which should be jumping all three. (30sec.) and still used glow from switch off and on too.

Not sure if it was helping or not. It is so cold could not get tractor to start and it may be the cold (below zero); not lack of glow, that would not let her start.

Test two- Put the jump box back on charge and also a kerosene heater in the old furniture truck box where the tractor is stored to raise surrounding temps. No cow to kick over heater in the box.

Will report back later to see if heating the area helps her start.

(note: yes an inline coolant heater is planned for next winter. Luck just was not on my side to get her installed sooner)

When my coil type indicator quit turning red on my M4500 it was the glow plugs themselves. Cross reference the PN with an NGK number and check at NAPA, mine were only around $5 a piece. Replaced 5 of the 6 (that last one will have to wait till warmer weather 'cause of access issues) and the indicator will glow bright red inside of 30 seconds. Starts MUCH better!

Interesting hmmm

Test two........ most likely the time between last post and now was not long enough to heat Kuby 25's storage box. Tried her again but no go. I'll try changing the glow plugs. Might even install the inline heater too. Matters time. Im heading to work now and wont be off with enough time to tackle something beside down time and sleep again for another... hmm... 3 weeks??

I would disconnect all the glow plugs and do a continuity test on each one. Maybe they all dead.i got mine going with a magnetic heater and about 4 attempts with 30 seconds of glow each time. Was minus 12 celcius.

Replaced Glow plugs today. Coil on the dash still does not light up. Anyone know the part # for this. I can't find it in the parts manual at kubota corporate.

I've searched here. Will keep searching and report back if I find it before someone responds

If wrong part number (25amp version) was installed by PO would that make it not glow yet still activate the plugs?

Yes.....
So with no indication of what the glow plugs are at makes it worthless. ;)

replaced with 20amp version. Not sure what old one was. Glow wire was not broke.

New one does glow red now after about 45 seconds.
