Congrats on 54 and counting. So, where 18 and here 16 when you got married? This April 15th it will be our 48th year. I always tell everyone I can't forget our anniversary since I married her as a tax deduction.

I had just turned 19 and she had just turned 16. All our relatives said it wouldn't
work, we were to young. We're gonna prove them wrong yet.:D:D:D

sawmill, congratulations on your marriage. You have to enjoy it when someone tells you something won't work when you believe that's not the case.

I call it the "Red Flag Syndrome". The proverbial waving the red flag in front of the bull. Tell me something won't/can't work and you best get out of the way, 'cause I'll wear my fingers to the bone proving you wrong!!

Maybe you have the same attitude. It is a motivator that last a long time, and keeps you going when everyone else has given up.

Congrats to all!!!

I met my wife fresh of her divorce and married her as soon as her divorce was final (62 days after our first date). Most said it wouldn't last. As the Cat Steven's song goes, "I was lookin' for a hard-headed woman..." and I found her. I tell her I am the only one who coulda put up with her for 35 years. She tells me she got this way after living with me for all that time.

Brings a tear to your eye doesn't it?

Best decision I ever made. :) Because of her, I am light-years ahead of where I probably would have been.

Some time it works...

That's what I figured since it seems those are the ones that last.

I was almost 21 but my wife just 17 and looked 12. She was still being carded at 31 and jumped all over a waitress when she asked for ID one night.

Of course we had only dated 5 times in 3 weeks when we got married and her mother had to sign for her.
