First off, let me point out that this is supposed to be humorous. I'm not going after anyone in particular. You know who you are!;)
I see here at OTT and MANY other sites bad spelling in the posts. Don't get me wrong, I'm no A student. Far from it. If it hadn't been for all the shop classes offered at my high school I never would have gotten enough credits to graduate! I'm just wondering if the automatic spell check only works for some posters and not others.
Any thoughts?

Mines fat fingers and dyslexia  depends really on the device and settings. On my tablet, if I mispell something it automatically gives it as on option next time if I hit the space bar

My problem with spell check is, spell check may be right, but it doesn't know what my brain wants.

Example: I type "you" and I mean "your". Happens frequently. Maybe I have nerve damage somewhere!!

The Lost, Forgotten Skill and Pride of Proofreading. Plus, Many just don't care, think it's not important, or it just takes too much time on how they present themselves and their thoughts in print. Many, many times I have and will quit reading posts that are bad in grammar and spelling. I figure, why should I struggle and take the time to understand and decipher someone's thoughts when they can't make an effort.

Just my 2½¢!

Your right, every now and then a tough one comes along. I do re-read my posts to see if they make sense before I post them.

I agree with all said. I'm not much help here, but on other forums I provide varying amounts of assistance as I am able and feel qualified. As has been said, I'm not putting more effort into reading a post for help than the person who posted it. I'm not talking about an odd fumble fingered misspelled word here and there (or spell check misfire), I have a few of those along the way. But the ones with horrendous spelling, consistent run on sentences, little or no punctuation, I'm just not interested. Even if I get the gist and know the answer, I just move along to the whatever is next. I recall someone on one of the boards getting annoyed that they were not getting assistance, then being gently urged to take a little time to post coherent questions. Their response was a tirade about how they didn't come there to be graded on spelling and grammar. Ridiculous...

Isn't that the truth  next thing you know they'll do the same with math :rolleyes:
I have a nephew thats a victim of the no child left behind. Kid reads and understands at a 3rd grade level. He's 24  kid wanted to join the military, took him 4 tries before he made the bare minumum to pass the test. First time he took it, he scored a 5. Course his mom and dad are just as much at fault as the school is.

Thats so true :) I want to smack the hell out of parents that can't take the time to work with there kids. Or especially the ones that get mad because they feel that there kid deserves something even though they didn't earn it. Then they wonder why this generation has such a sense of entitlement

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND BECAUSE IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD, AND SARA HAS 2 MOMMIES,, yeah tell me about the BS.
When we were kids, you got held back a grade that was like a kick to the , nu,,,,,,,,,, ahhh you know what I mean. But to hold a child back to day OMG that is degrading to the child's self image and he/she will be ridiculed by their peers.
And to top it off you have the hero's of these kids today, football basket ball what ever sport you pick it,,, And these clowns make more in one day than I do in a year, and they cannot complete a sentence with out,, ahhh,, hummm,, you know, like,, and it goes on and on.. Yes it surely pisses me off as well, when you have young engineers that are supposedly EE's that cannot figure out Ohms Law with out their damned phones or a calculator... But I digress
