Many who experience this problem may have a valve body that has simply come "out of adjustment."

My service tech showed me the valve body and the linkage to the actuator arm. If any of this linkage loosens up, it can cause the 3pt to fight itself on the way up. However, they replaced mine without trying to readjust the linkage.

There are two valves.

One ports pressure to the big piston moving the 3pt arms.
The second valve is the bypass valve that lowers the 3pt.

On the way up, under pressure, if the bypass valve is on the margins of adjustment and is sticking slightly and then re-setting and porting some pressure while repositioning, the 3pt may chatter. At least that is what he explained to me. If you were out of warranty and this started, you could hone out the bypass valve body and reassemble the valve body. Problem is, the tolerances in getting the linkage hooked back up are VERY tight and you'd have to have the MM to reference every step of the way.

With guidance, and by photo documenting on your way in so you can get it the same way on your way out, it wouldn't be too hard -with a MM to reference the assembly tolerances.

But... while you are under warranty... RUN AROUND THE SHOWROOM RON BURGUNDY STYLE YELLING AND SCREAMING AND THEN FALL ON THE FLOOR KICKING AND SWEARING THEN GRAB THE SERVICE MANAGERS ANKLE IN A DEATH GRIP UNDER YOUR ARMPIT!

Sad you have to resort to that isn't it?

CCR,

Well, I can agree with the adjustment program if you are out of warranty. In my case, I actually got the old valve and the p/n for the new one. They are different part numbers. If any of you followed the GM key recall issue...it reminds us that in manufacturing that if any part is changed, a New part number must news signed to it.

I kept the old valve.

It may be that they had a bad run of valves and not all of them are bad. However, if you are lifting a heavy implement like a box blade and it jumps enough to harm someone, it's time to jump and scream.

The question is: How long will our new valves last?

I just took delivery of my new 2014 L3800HST on Monday and mine might be one of the problem ones. Mine came with a BH77 backhoe installed, so I was never able to check it before delivery, but I was "assured" by the dealer that they had never heard of the problem, and if there was an issue it was easily fixed.

I pulled off the back hoe tonight and hooked up the post hole digger. Even with no weight on my 3-point, as I inched up the lift arms to the correct height for the PHD, they noticeably moved in rapid 1/2" stepped increments as they rose. Once I had the PHD attached, I drilled a hole and as I slowly pulled it up, it jerked pretty bad. It may be one of the worst I've seen.

I'm not jumping up and down yet, until I check it out some more in the morning or the coming days. I'll let y'all know what I find.

I'm certain that you will get satisfaction with this issue. I hope that it is immediate! Of course, as we've seen throughout this thread, that will depend on your dealer. And on you, should your dealer be one of those who drags his feet.

Best wishes for a speedy repair!

My fingers are crossed! The dealer is sending someone out tomorrow to see if it can be tuned out with an adjustment of the feedback linkage. So far, the dealers been on the spot, I was willing to bring the machine back to them, but they'll try to fix it here first. I'll let y'all know.

I do have to say that it's appalling that this issue has existed to this degree for (at least what you gather from all the internet forums). It makes you question the whole engineering/manufacturing and QC cycle at Kubota. They leave the door open for their competition to walk in, with decisions like that.

To paraphrase Forrest Gump's mom, "Quality is, as quality does!"

Considering the 3-pt is such an elemental part of the tractor, and has been since they started making tractors with 3-pts back in what, the 30's? And don't tell your customers its what you should expect on a "entry level" tractor. This type experience simply telegraphs, "This is below acceptable quality standards," casting doubt on the rest of your products.

Not good.
