The truck is uglier then home made sin up close. Has to huge fugly metal bumpers. The rear bumber I can understand we have a big deck over tri-axle equipment trailer rated for 10,000lbs and its pintle hook. On the back of the truck theres a 25ton spring loaded hook to pull with. It has an 8ft bed with a 6ft ladder rack off of my old short bed GMC.

My son and my son inlaw say that every thing I own is emotional to use (mostly fear) partly because of overkill on hitches bumpers and anything else I can beef up. Ugly isn't always bad in my books.:D Dusty

No I agree, I'd rather have overkill on trailers and hitches. Cant afford to have something get away from ya and someone get hurt or killed.

Butch

I had the two piles which was a total of 24 tons knocked down within an hour and a half to 2 hours. But it took forever to fine grade the driveway so it looked right and was as smooth as it could be for a gravel driveway.

Aint no two ways about it I NEED a bigger tractor with a FEL. I've got 3 more driveway jobs to look and and give a price on, My lil tractor cant handle it. Plus I still have the issue of not being able to turn a key and fire it up, got to jump it everytime. I think it must have a short somewhere in the wireing.

Well, that all depends. How old is the batt? Even then sometimes that doesn't matter. Is it maintenance free or the kind that has no caps? Other words, is it low on water?

I've had more than a few batts that seemed shot needing a jump. Then I got a batt charger that also has a conditioner feature. It takes 24 hours but it really shakes it up inside and brings it back to life.

I can either charge the battery for 24 hours with a trickle charge or put a fresh one on. It will start up the first time but the mintue I shut it off and go to start it back up its DEAD.

Damn it, you live way the fuck over there...damn it

Ok, first off, charging a battery on a 2 amp for 24 hours doesn't really mean anything. The battery itself may need to go through a very long deep cycle of reconditioning. Pretty much, there is no charging in this time frame and the battery is getting, for lack of words..a deep tissue massage...yes I said it, so what!

The game changed when you put a brand new battery in there and it still did nothing.

How do the headlights work for proper illumination? Are they very good or poor?

Depending on tooling and funds we will skip the $$$$ section.

Typically the negative cable is from the batt to the frame and the positive is from the batt to the starter.

When you have the time completely disconnect the negative cable from the batt and the frame. Do a really good inspection of both ends. Use a BBQ brush, brillo pad or sand paper and do a very thorough cleaning of all contacts on the cable, frame and batt. Shiny metal is the key! Sometimes the grounding point on the frame may get pretty bad with deep pitted corrosion. Clean it up REAL good and if the metal is no not smooth than do the best you can and level it for good contact.

Moving to the Positive cable, also disconnect both ends and check for condition. Holding the cable in one hand, pull the crimped connectors with your other hand. See if they move separate of the cable and see if you can pull it off the cable. Neither should be able to happen.

A really good charged battery can push amps through those type of conditions BUT the small amount of amperage required to re-charge the batt will never make it.

pretty nice job, back in the old days like when i was a kid, there was old man that ived down the valley on a fair sized farm and had team of mules and a horse drawn grader he used to clean up his lane after the winter. it must have been at least a 1/4 mile long and when we saw a dump truck with stone headed his way we would go and watch and some times he would let us ride on the grader with him. life was a lot more fun back then, hope you get the battery thing fixed

now you have to take this with a bit of salt cause it was a long time ago 40 + years,, but the grader blade was i'm thinking 6 or 7 feet long he could raise and lower it and angel it from the deck. it was set up for a double tree for the draw bar. those old mules, now that i think back on it, must have retired along with him from farming, i think that maybe him and his mules were doing it just for something to do, cause the kids had 2 tractors and ford and a big case and they could have cleaned it up in jig time. i was in the service when he passed away and i dont know what happend to the mules. i just know the old farm wasnt the same.
i guess we all have some kind of memories like that, and seeing you doing the gravle kinda brough that one back, thanks
peace
