Hi,
I am the proud owner of an BX2370, and am clearing the back property, have read that a skid plate would be a smart investment. I have a 60' mmm and am not sure what to buy. Could anyone chime in with some experiences or direction. Thanks

If your mowing the MMM will keep 99% of everything out of the fan.. If you pull it off and run around inthe woods or over branches and stuff, then a skid plate is a good bet cause replaceing the fan while not all that hard aint no fun,,, unless yoru wildfire,,lol There are several companies than make skidplates and other goodies for the BX you tube it of google it. If your have way good with yoru hands you can make on up with out to much problem,,, I have been told old street signs work really well,,, just sayin:rolleyes:

I have researched the web and found 2 candidates, 1 says it can be left on even when using the mmm, would that restrict airflow to the cooling fan? The other states the removal is required when using the mmm, is that as easy as they say? I will be snow blowing this winter should I have the skid plate for the winter also? Thank You in advance for the info, I appreciate your experiences.

Haveing a BX, snow removal is not going to be a problem with your fan, unless like I said, your running over branches and debres that might get up under, but blowing snow, not a worry.
The fan is to cool the hydro and thats pretty important, but the skid plates should you buy/build one has enough space around everything to allow for cooling of the unit.
Most skid plates I have seen require to be removed when you put on the MMM. There is one and I dont remember where I saw it that has a drop plate allowing you to get into the MM PTO. Thats looked like a real PIA to me.
Mine was made out of scrap,,ahhh errr hummm,,, metal I found laying along the road after a car crashed into a big road closed sign,, ahhmmm.
I use it when Im running through the woods hauling fire wood and such sillyness when the MMM is off, and unless your doing something like that with the MMM off I wouldnt worry about it to much. I know others will say other wise,, this is just MHO,,
user mileage will varry:D

JB good looking plate, Skeets thanks for the info I will just keep the mmm on when cleaning the brush. I will only be clearing for about a week, then hauling fill. And with snow blowing it's not a concern that's good news.

Here are pics of my "Bro-tek" heavy duty diamond plate shield. http://www.bro-tek.com/

I am in the woods a lot doing logging, with now problems with anything hitting my fan.

Because of this shield, it allows me to just dive into the woods like as if I am driving a small tank.
