In any case, I've been a member for awhile. Started to post a while back, but it didn't go so well. So, this time I thought I'd re-enter the correct way and introduce myself.
My name is Bill, and split my time between upstate and downstate NY. My heart is in the Mountains, but my Grandchildren, whom I adore, are Flatlanders. Hence, I try to make the best of both worlds.
Retired Tool & Die Maker since 1967. Worked at one of the prominent National Laboratories in Physics ... The Machine Shop ... no diplomas on my wall, except from the School of Hard Knox!

So, I'll still be a reader for the most part, but will enter in if I think I can help or add something..
Oh, by the way, got a B-7800 that I love. Love to move up to a 3901, but I can't bring myself to part with the B ... Maybe next year ....

Hi Bill

I am 20 minutes from taking delivery of my new 2370 but your upstate comment caught my eye. Born and grew up in Glens Falls but spent most of my free time in my dad's logging camps back in the late 50s and early 60s. The Adirondacks back then was true wilderness and I still miss the mountains. Home since 1976 has been a wee island off the east coat of Canada and while I love the sea I sure miss the mountains. Go easy of the flat landers. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I don't know about a wealth of knowledge, but I was pretty good at my trade. Still a neophyte in tractorin', but a pretty good handle on mechanical stuff. Been back to stick welding for awhile, and trying to get started with Lift TIG.

My flatlander comment was made with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek, because I basically are one! :) The ADKs is my adopted home for the past twenty years, but our neighbors have accepted us warmly!
And, with 113,000 acres of Siamese Pond Wilderness Area abutting us in the back, it's still pretty much wilderness to us. The Moose are returning, and I can see evidence of them out the back. Coyotes call under the bedroom window from time to time, and Black Bear quite prevalent ... So. we're quite happy, and the Kub, from Evans Equipment in Remsen, NY, is invaluable.

BTW, I hope to see pics of that 2370! Best of luck with her!!

Good to have your knowledge on here Bill. I like the idea of the 3901! Got mine last week. If you give me a few months, I will tell you all the ins and outs as I learn them from mine. I am new to the Kubota and OT world and I am enjoying every minute of it so far. There is a wealth of knowledge and some good folks on here.

Bill your description sure makes me miss the mountains more. I grew up experiencing the same. I knew you were tongue in cheek about flat landers. :). I too am new to the SCUT family. Last tractor I worked with was back in late 50s with an old Deere and Case. This purchase was clearly a want vs need but my rationale is an old sore back and frequent blizzards that drift the snow to our roof. That is the story I am sticking with.

Welcome, Bill!

My wife and I spent a few days in and around Lake George last month.

I spent a summer in Warrensburg many years ago as a student at the College of Environmental Science & Forestry. Hadn't been back since, and I really enjoyed it up there!

Thanks RCW,

It is beautiful country, but you're in probably the best Ruffed Grouse habitat in the state! I've been to Grouse Ridge Kennels on a number of occasions to view Pete & Katie's English Setters. My dogs are both 11 now, my knees are shot, and I'm not sure I can run down another recalcitrant young prospect... buuuuut, hope springs eternal.

Only time will tell ...

If you're ever in the Indian Lake area, give me a shout ..
