we have a bobcat 2200 with the d722 Kubota engine, the problem we have is that it will not rev up, it was running fine and now will barely move. we have replaced the filters and belt, we have checked the clutch and it appears to be fine. we know very little about diesels any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

Have you followed the linkage to the injector pump? When you say it does not rev up, explain further, does the lever (pedal) move and no change in sound? Does the lever(pedal) move and it changes sound as if more fuel is trying to get to the pump?

Pop the hood, follow the linkage and see if something has come loose

thanks for reply, we have looked at the linkage and it does move the lever, the engine will gain a few rpms then slow back down to an idle, weve tested it with out the belt on it and off of it we have same results. it acts like its almost starving for fuel, we have looked at the electric pump on there and it seems to have a strong flow of fuel. do these engines have a mechanical pump as well as the injector pump, there is a solenoid on top of the injector pump that doesn't look like its operating anything I broke my test light so I am trying to read it with a volt meter thanks again

#1 check the fuel filter.
yep what Wolfman says. Also you may have an air leak so your sucking in just a tad bit of air when the demand raises... thus raising the suction in the fuel lines to pull more fuel to the engine. This additional suction then opens the gate where the air leak is... while at idol etc. the gate/leak area may not sucked open.

That being said.... a fuel filter that is getting clogged will also increase suction and increase chance of pulling in air AND/OR just not providing enough fuel to increase RPM.

Granted.... my experience with diesels is NOT with Kubota but older MB's and a few others. For all I know Kubota pushes fuel to the IP from the tank and not pulls it/sucks from somewhere up near the IP.

If its like the d722 i work on, theres a fuel pump on the engine. The furl filter screws to the base of it.pull inlet line off injector pump and check how much fuel flows out. Keep in mind, you need to bleed the air out afterwards. The d722 on our genset is the same too, fuel pump on block.
