I purchased a used BX2200 and I believe the lever that lifts the 3pt has never worked correctly. When I got the tractor, it would raise and lower the 3pt, but it would snap back into the full up position, I used it by keeping my hand on it to prevent that, but now decided I have to do something, it's somewhat dangerous. I searched all over (I have the WSM manual) and couldn't find any detailed instructions on how to adjust it. I tried to adjust the nuts on the rod to a neutral position, but now it won't go all the way up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure if I understand correctly. But the lever on the BX2200 is supposed to return to center automatically. It sounds like yours is returning to the top (lift) position automatically.

Some people use a bungee cord or similar to hold the lever forward so that the 3PH is in float. The springs can be adjusted to get this effect.

There are other recent posts on the issue as well. In fact, I put a post in with a picture of the mechanism.

The WSM has a drawing of it on pgs 2-M9 and 5-S4. Adjustment instructions are very sketchy.

What I did was take off the right rear wheel to make access much easier and then adjusted the front spring (a small bolt locks the stop) and the back spring (two lock nuts) until the lever performed to my liking. It is a trial-and-error process.

3 pt control levers should have some type of friction device(usually spring loaded washers) so control handle stays in the same position as one leaves it.

For some reason the BX2200 doesn't have this feature. The handle mechanism is designed to self-center when the extremes (up/down) are reached.

In order to do that, the handle has to move freely.

What I did was loosen everything and set the 3pt to the lowest position, take a reference mark, then move it to the highest position, and note that distance. Divided the distance of travel, and set the 3pt at the midpoint. Then slide both springs into the center and lock everything down. It works like it came out of the factory now.

Thanks GWD :)

Well, your solution is quite logical and scientific. Way beyond what I know. I'll be trying your method next time that particular issue comes up again.

Good work!
