Hi Fellas, pretty new here (still wearing the FNG hat )

Have a solid quote from my local dealer:

  • 2013 L3800 HST w/Loader
  • Cruise Control
  • Block Heater
  • R4 loaded tires
  • Wheel Spacers

$21,493.00

Found a trade-in 2011/2012 (Sold new in Dec 2011) L3800 HST w/Loader today at a non-Kubota dealer with 11.2 hrs on it for $18,050.00. Looks as good as new, a little paint gone on the bucket.

Prices on new or used here in the NE seem to run $1K-2K higher than the rest of the nation . . .

Is this a No Brainer??

Thanks!!

My money would be on the new one. Warranty and I would know all the service was done to my spec are my issues. And 2 years newer. Just me tho.

Both prices are close together so in that range I would rather have a clean seat that no one else has farted in. LOL :D:D:D

A guy I work with bought his new Kubota because he said the price of new and the price of used was the same.

Like I said before, a Kubota dealer from Texas told me that ALL dealers pay the same price for their tractors, regardless of their sales or the size of the dealership. This is known as a "Fair trade item" practice. I believe what this man told me, and he also told me what I should have to pay for the pkg. I was shopping for in Oregon. This really helped me out, and I got the pkg. I wanted for within $100.00 of his suggested retail price total. Dealer prices varied as much as $ 3, 000.00 for the same pkg. ! Pit the dealers in your area against themselves, forward an email to all the Kubota dealers within a couple hundred miles of you requesting a price for your exact pkg. in one email with their best and only price. Should prove both interesting and entertaining as well ! Hope this works for you as it did fo me..good luck.

Im in same boat. Thinking used. Can get more tractor for same or less than new. I have shopped southern tier ny and getting higher price than you. I dont really care about farted in seat or a scratch. Same as what i will do. Not buying it to look at it. If u buy out of state you can skip paying tax. If u buy new and use bota credit it will need insurance on it. From them or under your home owner. Things to consider when crunching numbers.

With only 11 hour You could change the oil, buy an implement and still have money left over for a warranty "like" service item down the road with the $3000 you would save with the used one.

I am thinking I am gonna jump on the used one . . Will test drive it today. If all is OK it should be in my shed by the end of the week.

Kurtee: Service?? What service?? It has 11.2 hours on it . . . . it's on it's second tank of deisel . . .

aquaforce: Not even close in price . . close in price is $500 bucks . . It's $3400 cheaper, I wish it was 5K cheaper but I think the strong used prices on Kubota speaks to their quality and desirability . .

FWIW I have seen two other used L3800 HSTs w/loader within 100 miles; both were 400-500 hr machines and 2008/2009 vintage. Asking price was $19,900 on both, best price I could get flashing ~CASH~ was $17,900 on the 2009.

$3400+ saved pays for 1/2 of a new Kubota backhoe for it . .

We are not rich, we are paying cash and pinching pennies. I have filed a DBA for the farm, so there will be no sales taxes. Our five year plan (now into year two) is to be at our 54 acre retirement homestead DEBT FREE and hopefully mostly off grid.

I saved 4k when I bought mine used 3 years ago.

15k with 14 hours on the meter.

Warranty? Not a concern to me.

I'd get the used one, but wouldn't pay more than 17.5k or so.

John,

We bought our used L3700SU (same as L3800) with 78 hours on it. Changed all the fluids, runs perfect. No problems. Saved about 6K, so used the extra for more implements.

Sounds like you have a rare opportunity with such a new used tractor.

These are tough tractors. Just treat them good and they will treat you good.

Also, sorry about the people's republic of NY stifling your life.

I'd go for the used. If you buy the new one, when you have about 11 hours on it you'll wish you'd bought the used one and had the extra $3400 to buy the implement you just realized you want. I think Kubota can transfer the warranty to you??

Well, I bought the used 2012 L3800 with 11.2 hours on it on Sunday. When I looked at it it was absolutely mint. The guy who owned only cleared snow out of his paved 2000' driveway with it for two winters . . . The bucket does not even have a scratch on it. The R4 tires still have some of the molding nubbies on them . . . . always kept indoors.

It is being delivered to the local Kubota dealer this week or next week to have a BH77 Backhoe mounted to it ($7400).

Great deal! After the wax, buy a high pressure washer to keep it looking mint...
