Nice forum you fellas have here. Have done 98% of my Kubota research here over the last year or so and I am about to pull the trigger on a new L3800 (Tier 3).

This is how she is optioned out:

  • L3800 HST
  • Loaded (Rimguard) R4 ties
  • 70000-00297 Block Heater
  • L8455 Cruise Control
  • LA524 FEL with Q/A bucket bracket
  • L2256 66" bucket
  • Wheel spacers (1" each side for tire chains clearance)

Cash price: $21,493.00

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the reply!! I am thinking higher overhead and shipping costs to Central NY makes up at least a portion of the difference . . I got quotes from 3 NY state dealers and they were all in the same ballpark . .

So why do y'all think the price is so much higher up here in New Yorkistan . . ?? Buckaroo52 . . those implements are worth what . . . $2K at least?? I had the dealer quote the same build sheet for an L3800DT and it was only $400 cheaper than the HST . . .

tn1977 . . how much are the adjustable links? That is a great deal financed . . the current Kubota incentive is $1000 off for cash . . The price quoted me shows the 1000 off for cash as a line item . .

Am I getting bent over a log here??

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I have been working with this dealer for 24 years on all our small stuff . . chainsaws, lawn tractors, wood splitters etc . . . With the exception of one salesman being a Richard (who has since moved on to promulgate his Richardness elsewhere), I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. They have been a family business here in Central New Yorkistan with 4 locations for longer than I have been here. They have a good reputation plus one of their locations is only 4 or 5 miles from our 54 acre homestead site. Great for parts/service. I think the price differential is regional, not the exchange rate for dollar vs yen, which has been good for 6 months or so . .

Wish I could find out what others are paying here in NY/PA areas.

Whatever you pay matters but at the end of the day you still end up with the same tractor in your yard as someone who paid a little less. The machine is the really important bit.

In Northern Virginia I purchased my L3800 about 4 months ago for $21,000

L3800 HST
524FEL with Q/A 66inch Bucket
Cruise Control
R4 Loaded Rear Tires
Land Pride RCR1260

I paid $21,000 out the door Cash Price. Also No Tax since it is used on a Farm.

I ended up buying the 3pt telescoping stabilizers from Hodge on the board and Im very happy with them. I didnt realize when I bought the L3800 that is was a option. And the dealer I bought from also gets all his L3200/3800 and L4600 with cruise control since he said most customers want it.

Local dealer in Dickson Tn.Dickson Farm Sales. There was a dealer by the name of Barlows in Kentucky that was really competitive. I hear they deliver all over.

The wheel spacers Kubota sells you are a bit less than an inch; they still don't give you much room for putting on the chains. They cost about $300. For the same $$ or less you can find really nice 2-1/2" or 3" spacers on ebay. They not only allow for easier chain installation, they add considerably to hillside stability.
I think about 10-15% off Kubota's web "build your own" price is about normal, although some of the members do much better. As with cars, price may have something to do with promotions, quotas, etc.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply!! Good stuff! gpreuss, I will take your advice and get the aftermarket 2 1/2'" spacers.

Does anyone know the width of the tractor with R4s?? The Kubota specs read "Overall Width (min. tread)" is 55.1" . . . what does (min. tread) mean?? I will be running a 72" brush hog so I kinda want to stay wider than the width of the tractor . .
