Well I had a busy day. Did a lot of clean up, raked stones off the lawn. I really thought the tractor was gonna make it worse than the side by side I had but it really wasn't any worse, perhaps a little better. Just had higher accumulation of stone piles from the snow banks, it was an usual winter with warm stretches. Everyone around here is dealing with it as well.

Sooo I used the tractor today as a very expensive wheel barrow. I also moved some snow banks I had left, there are two large snow banks but I'm going to leave them to melt.

The driveway was getting rutted up pretty bad to the point your car just stays in the rut. The driveway needs to be resurface and crowned again but it's gonna have to wait as it still pretty wet but atleast today I managed to scrape the driveway down atleast to the pot hole level and then just spread out the driveway mix again.

I am pretty inexperienced with this, I definitely didn't dig down several inches by accident 🙃

I am impressed how well the tractor works with this driveway though..didn't struggled at all, just goes right through it. After a few minutes I kinda started to get the hang of it and managed to not keep digging and just scrape an inch off at a time. It doesn't help that it's so uneven. One side will take 4-5 inches off and the other since barely an inch. So I got some work today.

For my limited experience and not having a box blade right now, I feel like I did alright. It won't stop the pot holes. I really need to get under them and to bring the gravel layer underneath back up a little and then I can get a load of two of this driveway mix to raise the driveway up. It has sunken a lot.

But man it's so much easier using the tractor. I used to pull a homemade grader box with cinder blocks for weight and it would take hours to do..HOURS. What I did with the tractor today was about 30-40 minutes worth of work. It felt like I was working for hours at it, until I saw the clock haha.

I also tried to make some video today, but it was so windy so I decided to not bother. Still might use what footage I have to put together a video anyways.

Sorry I didn't get any action shots of the tractor.

But here's a picture of the tractor in the garage taking a nap.

It was just nice to be outdoors doing something.

Forget a box blade, landplane is what you need!

A bit too expensive for me and less versatile in my opinion. I can't justify the cost of one, was quoted $3000 for one. It ain't worth it to me. Box blade is still expensive as it is haha.
Prowl Facebook Market Place for a used one. Although, I only paid $1300 for my Catawaba 60" landplane last year, picked up from a local implement dealer. Think my box blade was $600ish from Rural King 2-3 years ago. Using both, the land plane is infinitely easier to use and better for driveway maintenance. I'm going to spend some time on the tractor tomorrow or Saturday spreading out a little stone and dragging the drive.

I don't have Facebook. Everything is like double the price here in Vermont. Someone was selling a rusted out box blade for $1800 the other day on craigslist. It's absolutely ridiculous.

I was looking Homestead equipment for a 60" landplane and the price isn't TERRIBLE...I do like the idea that it's easier to use, especially for a novice like me. If I do any paid jobs for driveway resurfacing or smoothing out topsoil...the land plane might just pay for itself. So I am leaning toward that now.

Make a burner account just for marketplace...I've encountered several people who have it just for that. I've been on FB since 2005 and for the past 3 or so years I only use it to buy and sell on marketplace. You just gotta be quick to grab the deals, they don't last long.

There's a New Holland dealer by me that takes in a lot of stuff on consignment. All of their prices must be made up by the local crackhead, $1600 for a 72" box blade that's far from pristine and missing the scarifiers..

Just searched Marketplace for my area, few 5' box blades in good condition pull up for $6-$700
