Just after the Christmas Caper this morning, Huey set his sights on one of the barn cats that invaded his sovereign territory….

My bestest buddy left us a year ago today. He was a loving, fetching machine. He left me with a huge hole in my heart. I miss him terribly. 😢

I remember when he passed. He was with you always.

So hard to lose them......

We get to this time of year and I remember Ollie. He passed 1/1/2022.

Geddy is great, but I still call him Ollie on a regular basis.

A painting wife’s friend did of Ollie. We actually have two paintings by different artists.

He had a real Fan Club….😟

Our Catahoulas are mid-life. The DW reminds me of that a bunch of times this season so far. Yes, they rip with doggie adrenaline but they aren't yearlings anymore. Short Haired they don't have a lot of insulation. But I've also seen the pattern for our overly smart protectors that they can 'shiver' when it suits their purpose. They are way too smart. They understand a bunch of human vocabulary. We have to be careful in conversation lest we incite a riot.

I can see the writing: When these critters reach end of life their time in the rough we will be done too. Mainly, these dogs could NOT be transitioned to city life. Heck, they've never been anywhere than here. As a matter, I think all of our household will wind down around that time.

Ever ponder your project in terms of dogs?

Hmmm, I've had 3 labs, none of them were diggers. They sure did like to graze though.

Both of my labs are digging fools! But only if they're after something. Which seems to be constantly lol

Started my 11½ year-old Standard Poodle on Librella, Rimadyl, and YuMove today. The cold weather and her age have really taken a toll on her mobility. We'll see how well it works within a few weeks, hopefully. Costly - but she's worth it.

We had a bit of a blow last night and a tree fell over the fence on the daughter's dog fence so I went up to fix it. I barely survived being attacked by a vicious pair of Akitas...

My boxer cross lab loves a good dig and a sniff. We put pepper in the holes to discourage digging. He got into one of the pepper holes recently. I couldn't stop laughing at his sneezing.
Would like to think he learnt a lesson out of it.

The Catahoulas have webbed toes all around. They can dig like an excavator. Neither has ever had a toe trim to this day - 6 YO. No hard surface. They are hard on the deck, for sure. There is literally a wear pattern on the deck where they tear out to do surveillance.

RIP our lovely and super sweet Taya.
She had been with us for 13 years.
It is a huge loss to us, but we are so glad to have rescued her!
We will miss her dearly.
