I looked at a few pictures I had with box blade on tractor, thinking I’ll split the difference and mount receiver on the bend of that back plate. Gonna just suck it up and drill me a square hole so I can weld both sides.
That sounds like a good plan, and locating it on the bend will make it even stronger, not that you need it to be able to pull a tank. (y) Looking forward to a photo or two, unless some guy called Joe Smith is doing the welding! 🤪

I've used my bobcat to pull out quite a few vehicles.
I uses it to tow a semi out of the ditch when the wrecker couldn't even do it because of the ice on the road.

Now that I think about it, I should have tried the M1078 last night to pull my neighbors out. It's 4WD and would probably do well in the snow. It weighs close to 17,000lb so it should have the ability to move stuff. It'd make a good snow plow truck with all that weight.

I might take it for a spin in my field this week to see how well it climbs the hills with 2ft of snow on the ground.

I put my chain box (ammo can) on the ROPS (still haven't painted the one for the chain). I just used ammo cans and some brackets that I made to fit existing holes in the ROPS just above the fender on the lower section on both sides. Not sure what they were intended for, but apparently was for me to bolt on a couple ammo boxes. I keep some very basic tools and a rag for working attachments on the left side(the orange one), and a 20 foot 3/8" chain on the right. I still need to consider a carry-all because I'm usually doing something that requires shovel, axe, pickaxe, hammer, wedges, rake, pitchfork, hoe, weedeater, etc etc etc when I go out on the tractor. BUT, I don't have room in my shed to store it, meaning I'd have to unload it every task/project. Still better than walking back to the shed because I need that one-more-tool and then not having enough room to carry everything back. Most times, I just use a little homemade trailer I built, which serves very well, but isn't capable of carrying much more than about 500 pounds. It was designed to pull behind my riding mower (pre LX2610SU) so wasn't much point in making it heavier. View attachment 146859

This was taken just after I finished the installation of the Summit 3FV kit for the grapple. The shop is a complete mess at the moment awaiting fairer weather for a good cleaning. I used the ammo cans from Harbor Freight, and already had one hinge failure (on the orange one). The spot welds for the hinge on the lid popped loose. No biggie. I just drilled each of the spot welds, then closed them back up with a wire welder, and voila! That hinge ain't coming off again. I like the detachable lids on the ammo boxes. I take the lid off the green one, pull one end of the chain out and drop it. It rattles a bit coming out, but between the fat tires and the inertia of the chain coming out, it doesn't touch the fender.
Nice shop setup. Have heat?

This is an option I hadn't thought about!
My initial thought was to butt weld a 2” receiver tube to the box, but after thinking about it, I don’t believe that would hold up over time. Even if I added some type of gusset top or bottom. Then thought about sinking the tube into the plate and welding both sides, that’d be plenty strong. Here’s what I have to work with, top placement seems too high and plate is angled, I do have an adjustable height hitch I could make work. Still concerned about the angle. And lower position seems, well, just too low.

I should have taken some measurements while attached to tractor… oops.

Mine is more towards the top. It works well & dandy for my setup. Since I had the bolt-on style I used a few heavy-duty c clamps to hold it on and hook up to my stuff to see how my clearances were in real life. I should have moved it down 2-3" then I wouldn't need the box blade up so high in some areas of my yard. I think your placement and plan will work great. Just don't forget the hitch is in there and crash your shin or ankle into it!!

I installed edge tamers on my bucket and did a practice run on the driveway. Loader was in float mode. Picked up some gravel, not much snow in driveway yet.
For the folks that use edge tamers, ~what angle do you run the bucket while pushing snow? The picture below is bottom of bucket parallel to ground.
View attachment 148809
I just put some in this year as well. I’ve found that running so the shoe on the edge tamer is almost flat on the ground works best for me. So about 10 degrees bucket tilt. The edge tamer should be contacting the drive, not the bucket.

We got ~4" of snow last night. If it warms up a little after work, I'm going to do a little clearing. It's 10F right now, little cold for me to be on the tractor.

Mr. Plow left about two feet of white crap at the end of the driveway. Cleaned that up and now playing the waiting game until they come back around to widen out the road.

Looks like the snow is over the tops of the trees! 😂 I like those drift cutters you have on your blower. I might need to make up a set of those at some point, although it's been 10 years since we had more snow than my current blower will handle, even with drifting. Now that I think about it, my current blower would probably handle the 3ft dump that we had during my first winter at this place.

There is a good 10' of snow piled on the far side of the road. Open areas are hardly covered.

I installed the front chains twice. 😜 I was complacent and put them on upside down the first time. That might not be a problem on some, but they are barely long enough to stay on the tread of my F4s. I needed the fronts to make my driveway wider. Otherwise, the front tires just slide.

Oh well, working now. We have more snow forecasted, and the driveway was starting to get narrow.

Don't worry about it, I did my fronts 3x on one, 4x on the other as they don't technically make front European Diamond Pattern chains for a BX and I had to "make them fit," and one of the rears twice as the first chain was made wrong. Since I did it in Fall I had to swap wheels a few times though I was ready for Winter once the replacement chain and different springs arrived.

Oh, and while doing so I found the shop that put in the front tubes for the last owner mounted both front tires on the rims facing the same direction, so technically one is "backwards."

I fired up the M1078 this afternoon to see if it could be used to pull cars and trucks out of ditches on my property, but without chains it's a no go even in 4WD. The M6060 is a snow climbing beast with those R1 tires, and now I know for sure that I only have one piece of equipment that can make it up a steep hill in close to 3ft of snow.

The snow has been melting over the past couple of days, but you can see the M6060 tracks in the field on the left heading up the hill parallel to the driveway, and then as they cut over to right to get ahead of the three stuck vehicles.

I didn't do any thing on my tractor, but our daughter drove it out the drive several times so she could get to work tomorrow. First time driving it. I will try to talk her in to trying to operate the BH next month.

This one reminded me of something similar to something I had done a while back;

Well I made a decision and went with it.

Someone welded a shelf right in the way… I will only be able to weld the inside on 3 of the 4 walls. Should be fine.
