I hope the buyer of this rebuilt tractor joins OTT so we can actually see how long it runs after a Joe's Garage rebuild. I would like to know the number of hours spent on this machine when done. Must be 50 hours just painting and repainting plus cleaning the gun each coat .
Who says he's cleaning the gun. Harbor freight. Throw it out and get another.

Tangent - - for many years Harbor Freight was an hour trip I made a couple times/year.

One just opened 9 miles (16 minutes) from home in direction we normally drive by.

I spent $10.78 this morning on another 6" magnetic parts tray ($1.99) and 100- 15" zip ties I realized I didn't need when I got home.....

Turn it back over to @joesmith123 and his YouTube channel.

I understand what you are saying about people that are doing things to somehow gain some money (or whatever) from other's.

BUT I don't see any way that Joe is profiting from this thread. None, other that getting some great advice that he may or may not decide to follow.

And it has been an interesting read so far. So he has given more to me than he has taken, for sure.

I am not sure calling Joe a scammer is justified. Could be if his purpose is to sell the tractor to an unsuspecting buyer, claiming most perfect condition. But for the thread here, I don't see how he is gaining anything other than advice and criticism, and certainly the criticism is in greater quantity than the advice!
Generally the goal is to scam parts donations from members who have extras and money donations for buying parts, tools, etc., though he's said how low his finances are several times I didn't see anyone offering to help find his project [yet], despite the long running thread. Still, he'll sell the tractor:
Gave block one last cleaning, painted opposite side of patch
....
The engine is worthless disassembled, but worth big cash on the machine running

Almost 50 yrs ago in the 70's I used to read "Hot Rod" magazine. This thread keeps their saying in my head,
"Run she may, But shine she must!
I think about it often when I do a repair as I seldom get around to doing a real paint job. My L2501 I bought new got some random orange paint applied when I welded two hooks to the thumb mount. I have since bought a can of Kubota orange but haven't repainted it yet.
Priorities are different with all of us I guess but the hooks I welded on this spring make a great way to stop the bucket droop on the BH77 between uses even if the paint doesn't match

He reused a head gasket 4 times and you think there would be only one use of a spray gun ;).

But the head gasket was cleaned and re-coated with sealer before each use. I knew a guy with a house full of kids and no money that washed head gaskets and hung them up to dry so they could be re-used. 😊

I have never heard of washing a head gasket and reusing it. I have heard of people doing that with condoms because of the expense of buying them. In either case, I can't see the benefit or reward because of the impending failure of reuse. In the case of the head gasket failure, a simple new replacement will resolve the failure. In the case of the condom, it might be a mistake that you will be paying for a few decades till they are grown and out of the home.

This post FILLED with compliment

Here I am thinking, I ruined the paint job, and then kind people say that your tractor look "that nice"
Gaslighting a member with a reputation for quality vehicle builds shows the inherent level of your dishonesty.

I did not comment on the tractor "paint" because as anyone who has painted an engine knows the quality of work in this thread is likely exceeded by using food coloring in water.

OTT is a pretty friendly place and derogatory comments directed at others here are not really tolerated. I personally would not make a comment like that without having more than speculation to back it up…Even then probably not anyway…

Which is why I only commented when the OP claimed I said something I clearly did not, and even then I did not like doing so.

Off topic for this thread but,
I first made this hook mount for the linkage because I wanted to be able to lift with or without a bucket on. It is 2 pcs of 3/8 plate 2-7/8 wide with the hook welded on one then sandwiched w 4 bolts to the linkage pc. The 2 hooks welded to the thumb bracket and then an appropriate length chain looped thru. I added the orange strips so hopefully I will see it before trying to unroll the bucket.
Works really nice.
