ZD1211 Gearbox

Noob question here, but I did some searching and didn't come up with an answer.

I bought a ZD1211 last fall with about 90rs on it and I am looking at changing the deck gearbox oil this spring.

The manual states that it is just 10w-30 engine oil in the gearbox..

I am strongly considering going to synthetic for the engine, is anyone here running it in their gearbox?

edit: It only has about 90hrs on it.. too much beer this morning.

I use full synthetic oil in my ZD326P. I can’t remember what weight I use. It doesn’t hold much and I believe they need watched and maintained. It’s a pricy repair if the bottom seal fails and it goes dry.

any engine oil is fine. The gearbox don't care if it's synthetic or note. All it cares is that it has the right amount of oil in it.
