Hey Guys, I searched and didn't find an exact match but was wondering what you guys recommend for yard repairs.

I recently demoed my 24x24 garage and built a 41x38 garage in its place.

My yard is destroyed from all the equipment and so forth on the property.

I have been watching youtube vids and such for ideas on how to clean up the dirt, bring in new loam and get it ready to attempt to grow grass.

I have a BX2200 with front and rear hydraulics.

Which attachments do you guys recommend to get my lawn back into shape?

Landscape rake? Rototiller? Soil Pulverize? Back Blade?

Thanks
Jeff

What do you have available to you?
A box scraper and a rototiller set 2-3" deep work great.

Pictures are gonna help in this case :D A minimum we like to see our tractor porn ;)

In my yard, I had drainage issues. Used a combination of box blade to loosen everything back up and to move the material where I needed it to knock down high spots, and to fill in low spots. Then before seeding, I borrowed another members pulveriser. Dragged that around to further smooth out the yard.

Then seeded the yard. And made a drag out of a roll of concrete mesh I had laying around to cover the seed.

I still need to build an aerator for my tractor, as well as a roller to run around the yard. But those are projects for a much later date :D

You said "recently....built" which would indicate it's been wet. If contractors and concrete trucks mucked up the soil you'll have more fun than if the soil was dry.

Pictures, as suggested, will show how it is and the condition of destruction. Also let us know any equipment you have or have access to, or equipment you're considering acquiring for the future.

Then more practical ideas can be made.

As mentioned pictures of how bad it really is will help.

Few questions that would also help spend your money:)

1- Budget
2- What are future plans where what you buy now can be used again and again
3- What are current needs that these implements could serve dual purpose

Will you have a garden, need to maintain road, clean up of debris, field maintenance, ditch maintenance, etc.

A box blade and FEL can do a lot of work.

I use an old stainless steel conveyor belt like chain secured to a 6x6 that I drag over my garden to smooth and bust up clogs and to help level areas with. Cost was free, just a little time to build.

Post the pics and I'm sure someone here can help.

Once yard is leveled i will not need this tool anymore.

That's the worse part.

That being said Boxblade seems like a good fit.

But if rototiller is better im always down for having an attachment to do some side work.

That would get the job done and not overwhelm the tractor. ;)

Dragging a piece of chain link fence or a old metal box spring work well for the final level too.

Would this one be worth wild?

https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200311185_200311185

Or anyone in the north east selling a used one.

Thanks
That's probably what I'd get, but not from Northern Tool, at least not around here. I asked about some piece of King Kutter equipment that they had on their website and they quoted me over $200 on shipping and said that I'd be better off going to a store that had them on hand. Now if you're remote and need to get it shipped anyway, they might be competitive.

Construction traffic likely compacted the soil. I would run a subsoiler first then work the surface to be loose and level before planting.

Plus one on that. Especially if you have any clay in your soil. More than one way to go for the rest of the job but make sure you have good drainage to start with.

So i just left my local tractor shop and the guy there has a 48” landprice blx blade 500$ used. It’s in nice shape. But he recommended a York rake because less stress on my bx2200 but he doesn’t have any used. New is about 950 for a woods

Decisions.....

What do you guys think

Box blade was the first implement I bought and have done a lot with it. I don't think you would regret having it. Can't speak to the york rake.

turbofreak403, many folks purchase implements because they have a good interest rate, or might need them in the future, but when you actually have a job for an implement to do it's value is greater. Buy the thing and get to work!!

I just want to do the work right, will the box blade grade out rocks or will i need a rake to go over it?

Im thinking of offering him 400 for the box blade.
