Our 2000 year model l2600 dt will not start. It sounds like the battery is weak/or starter is dragging but both test fine. I replaced both battery cables and got no change. We have never had this problem before. Anyone else ever experience this?

Did you make sure the battery posts were clean and shiny and the clamp connectors as well... Additionally, you need to clean the ground terminal where the negative cable attaches to the tractor frame. Clean it and make sure it's shiny too and put some di-electric grease on it as well as the battery terminal connections.

By tested did you mean it shows 13 volts? You need to load test the battery with a carbon pile load tester to be sure it's good. Just checking the static voltage means nothing.

Original battery? Time to replace it, ancient.

Daily.

Most of the time it's the battery. Most other times wiring or connections. A rare starter, and in 30 years, I think I've done maybe 3 or 4 starters. Kubota uses good starters on their stuff unlike some of the other brands.

Do a voltage drop test between the batt post and starter post. No more than 0.5 to 1v drop should be noted (test under load, crank engine while watching meter). Then do the same between the neg post and the chassis/frame. Again, 0.5-1.0v max. Any higher and you have a connection or/and wire problem.

I 2nd the suggestion, voltage drop test is an excellent diagnostic tool in this situation.

I'm with Lugbolt, I would bet it's the battery. It most always is. Do you have jumper cables to hook another vehicle to it and see if that will crank it? How old is the battery?
