I just bought a Ford 930 5' finish mower to use on my B7100. Should I expect to have any problems using it? I have been using a Woods 4' without any problem and I decided to buy to 5' and pass the 4' down to my son to use on his B6100. Also, the gauge wheel on the back are worn out. They are the same as the Woods. Ford wants $115 each. Is there any other source for replacement? They are 9" tall x 3" wide with a 1" axle.

I use a woods 60" (5ft) finish mower with my B7100 as my primary lawn mower. no problems as long as it has sharp blades, but thats with any of them.

Kytim, I had not thought of Surplus Center. Turns out they didn't have anything close. I did find these and if nothing else turns up, I will probably order them:

They come in the right hub length and bore.

Thanks,
John

5 foot Land Pride behind my B7100. No problems unless the grass is real tall. Then I just put in low range.

I took the 5' Ford finish mower out for its inaugural run behind the B7100. I was mowing some right of ways and an empty lot in our subdivision. The grass ranged from 6 to 18 inches of fescue and weeds. I mowed for a solid 2 hours. The mower did great and the B7100 handled it in the high side of 1st gear (really 4th gear). You guys were right, the B7100 did a great job with the 5 foot mower. I am passing my 4' Woods down to my son who has a B6100.

Eric, you are right about Agri Supply, they do have a boat load of gauge wheels. I will check them out. The yoke for the gauge wheel has a 1" shaft that goes though a 2.5" long tube on the back of the trailing arms. The tube is really wallowed out to the point that the wheel catches on the deck when you back up. The arms are $75 a piece from Ford, so I just bought a 1 foot piece of thick wall tube 1" ID and 1.5" OD (original is 1.625" OD) to reweld on the back of the arms. Total price $32 delivered. That and new gauge wheels will finish the mechanical repair on the Ford 930, then I can clean it up for paint.

Thanks for all of the advice,
John

With my 60" Woods mower I have cut fields of grass that stood a foot over the hood. Just gotta keep the blades sharp if you plan on doing that very often. keep your maintenance up, grease, good properly tensioned belt, sharpen and you'll be very happy and it will be too!

Glad it worked out for you.
